Magic Arena's Closed Beta will start in November, under NDA for few months.
Closed beta will start with Ixalan only set, and new stuff will be added in time.

Streaming will be allowed in early 2018.

Users with priority will receive a mail within 7 days from today, to verify they correctly have priority for the Closed Beta.

They'll keep weekly streams, to update the community on Magic Arena.

Also would add:

-No AI most likely, they seemed very dismissive of it and said they were focused on PVP

- Collections will be wiped throughout the closed beta, they'll make it clear beforehand when the final wipe happens and the real grind begins

- Cards that rotate from standard will have "some use" further down the line (although it's vague as hell like the rest of the stream it means at least they don't become totally useless)

- You won't be able to switch off animations (they say that they don't see the point as if you want to switch them off it means THEY failed, therefore they'd tweak them if the backlash is high)

- Beta system works in "waves" i.e everyone in the priority access doesn't get in at once, it'll be a small number that grows over time

- They claim that the game is F2P not PTW but i suppose they're not gonna come out and say the opposite haha

Probably missed some things but they really didn't say loads and loads, a lot of repeating themselves and saying they can't talk about it ect ect

Hope they have or will get some kind of campaign at least or perhaps they ought to just based on all the other CCGs doing so even if its a silly and basic tournament like Pokemon.

Nada.

They talked about the usual tutorial stuff, so that could be your campaign; but they have been quite clear on PvP focus.

One thing I noticed, is that WotC website specifically keeps directing newbies onto Duels, ill-advising MtGO if you don't have adequate experience; and not having a comprehensive tutorial in Arena would surely not make it newbie friendly.
If that stands after release, they could just push new players onto the stalled Free Duels to learn the basics, then bring them onto the Arena experience.

Instead of tiered experience within one platform, they basically chose to separate tiers in different platforms and userbases.
Good thing Duels has extensive use for PvE, so it won't be totally dead.

Starts on PC, then it'll move on mobile devices. That's what we know so far.

Xbox has never been mentioned. I'd personally doubt they'd go on consoles this time around, but that's me.
We don't even know if this will be tied to steam, and the current information roaming around suggests a separate client.

If its a choice between consoles and mobile platforms (at least in the early days) then I couldn't see them justifying the consoles. Much smaller market.

Their reasons for not switching off animations seem weird. If someone wanted to speed their potato up so they didn't drain performance then it'd make sense to have the option, that would be the "failure", not how they look.

It is weird, and it proves that they are just starting on this AAA digital CCG environment.
I'd believe they still see animations as a flashy, addicting way to attract userbase; but they should easily get plenty of feedback for their choice.
Unnecessary stuff should always be kept optional. Expecially in a reaction based, loops anch chain-actions rich environment such as magic.

TBH, it sounded like console/ios release was a long while away from the way they were talking about it, more of a "yeah we have the option to jump to other systems but right now it's all PC focused"

The success of Duels of the Planeswalkers goes back to xbox360 where they had a half million downloads (for money too) so I hate to think of them disrespecting their parents

Yes, but is that any less than what you expect? Expectations are what matters at this stage of limited info.

One of the main goals of Arena seems to be exciting streaming. That's where the animations part comes in. And that is probably why, during the beta, they want everybody to play with the animations, so that they get as much feedback as possible.

From their perspective, animations and fast gameplay is what Arena is all about. If you want the traditional experience, use MtGO.

Edited for spelling.

Sure. I was just trying to highlight the difference between Arena and MtGO.

They used the word "snappy" to describe the animations multiple times. It's pretty clear they want them there, but also don't want them wasting too much time. I believe their point is "If you think they are taking too long, we need to make them faster, not let you remove them."

Can you remove the animations in Hearthstone?

Finally was able to sign up!
Hope is now I have priority. I do have a longstanding relationship with DOTP but I'm not sure how they will measure this since it took me so long to get signed up.

Nope, priority is given only from Duels' CSID, MtGO and Paper Ixalan pre-release attendance and should also be from the Hascom codes.
During this upcoming week all users with priority should receive a mail. Just to confirm they correctly have priority, because up until now it was a self-check through the faqs.

Remember folks, this game is trying to bring in streamers. They need to make the game visually appealing without losing any of the core gameplay. This means splashy looking effects and animations, etc... It also means they need our feedback so that while the game looks beautiful, it also isn't annoying to watch or play. It's a fine line, and they need to figure out how to get as close as possible to the line, without crossing it. Hopefully, that also means good sound effects, and music - hopefully not in annoying amounts.

I honestly really think we should just refer to Arena as Magic Hearthstone.
