Post subject:  Pricing of new paper booster with Online-Redeemeable codes

An official survey hints at new pricing for paper booster with online-redeemeable codes, starting with the next MtG set.

Shown range applies a $1 rise, starting from the price you usually pay a booster.

In this case, it goes from $3.00 (starting point) to $4.00, with multiple in-between values, per booster.

Would you be fine with a price rise?
Would you crack some more with friends?
Would you bulk purchase them online?

For me, it all depends on exactly what those codes give you.
Too much variable in worth, between actual cards, cosmetics and in-game currency.
They'd do better to stick to one single choice.

I dunno, i mean unless you're already playing paper as well then i guess it's an added bonus, however if you're digital only like i suspect a lot of us are then it's probably still just better to spend the money on whatever Arena's $$$ system is instead (although i personally think it's pretty dangerous to put money into Arena after the Duels fiasco until they show us otherwise)

(Why is quick reply not working on this section of the forum?)

Not everyone who plays pokemon TCG does it by paper and online, hence why the codes get sold and you can buy a bunch from places like ebay or special traders.
Based on that alone I don't think a price increase because of the codes is that customer friendly.

I don't see why the code can't also be the ad card which I believe the PTCGO code cards are, though advertising the game itself.

I hope that an online pack only costs about $1 and that paper packs have codes that give you about $0.25 in online currency. Paper packs should stay close to their current cost (Which in my area is about $4) and the average person doesn't get enough codes to be worth selling them unless they buy a box, but if you go to a paper draft and win a prize pack you can get a free online pack.

Alternatively if they don't put codes in packs but when you go to in store event the store sends in your DCI and that puts goods in your account with no chance to sell it (Unless you can sell your DCI). I don't know how much extra work or opportunity for fraud this gives to the stores but I am guessing not much. This would be unfortunate for people who don't live near a store but still want paper cards, but it would increase friends saying "You should play arena with me" instead of "You should give me your codes if you don't play arena"
