I like the novelty of making this contest, but I bet the results are not going to be a lot of fun to look at. The deck are going to be either obvious or bad, mainly because A) One Set worth of cards is not a lot; B) Tribal Sets basically force you in a path; C) You pretty much can't build a Control deck because the best card in the Set is Carnage Tyrant, and there's like one (bad) answer to it in the whole Set and; D) Mana bases are going to be pretty bad unless you play Unclaimed Territory, further reinforcing the tribal aspect.

Anyway, if there's one thing Arena needs right now is fan support, so I might submit something (slightly) less obvious if I have time.

I delved into ixalan tribals, and let me tell you there's plenty of fun to be getting.
This is a rich block, and although it might miss some old soon-to-be-restricted cards, it can stand on its own in limited formats.

The only issue I see with this contest is that, quite probably, WotC are looking at stuff to showcase on the stream; particularly effects from Mythic rares and PWs. Many of them can become a sideglance on more aggressive decklists, so it both forces your hand and slims the path.

These 2 points alone make me wonder exactly what in the set would compete with R/G Tyrant rush? No sac effects and the only answer in set being Settle the Wreckage doesn't look good. I'm almost imagining a scenario of who's Otepec Huntmaster doesn't eat a Lightning Strike wins. I can't see any aggro build atm with the consistent speed to go under a turn 3 Ripjaw, 4 Alpha or 4/5 Tyrant. Moss Ramp flashbacks intensify.



Slight issue there, its still a constructed format. If we're talking draft, then yeah I could see that fun, but in a scenario where everyone can pick and choose their 60? Hard to see how Treasure.dec using just XLN is lasting long enough with such poor instant speed removal or board wipes.

Submitted a deck. It's a pirate tribal deck, using mainly flyers based on the raid mechanic. I've called it 'Raiders of the Lost Arrrk'

I really like one of the new red spells... Repeating Barrage might be good for a midrange RX deck.

Not that sold on any of the new tribals though, tbh - at least not for Ixalan exclusive decks.

#1 and #3 look terrible and #2 looks obvious (although I'm pretty sure you can make a much better version of that archetype). The only remotely interesting deck between those is #4, but the builder had to include crap like Invocation and the Blue Mythic to make the thing ugly. I hope they saved the best decks for the second batch
