ughhh... I really shouldn't care - AT ALL - but for some reason I do. I still have a lingering terrible feeling about this game, and of course I still hate what they did with the last one.

Meh, don't get too excited... I just want to satisfy my curiosity, but short of a perfect looking/playing game I'm probably never touching another WotC product again. I have strong suspicions that they will not meet my standards with this new game - in fact I expect it to be the product of a completely tone-deaf development team. I put up with a lot of crap with the last version, mostly because of their promise of a persistent, e.g.: long-term client. This time I simply won't touch it unless it's basically bug free, and high quality from day one - as I will treat the game as though I expect it to end at any given time. I won't try to convince anyone else to follow me, so this isn't an invitation to an argument; rather, it's a personal statement of interest, or lack thereof.

There's no Stainless right? So at least no flops on that end, not that Wizards been best at digital games. Then again they did restructure and make the MDN crew internally with some supposedly qualified people going into this, so handling it in-house should all make it better theoretically.

Will akoum firebird be able to attack walkers without locking the game up???

But nah, i'm in a similar boat to DJ, i expect very little and still think they'll somehow disappoint me, but if the stars do align and they actually make a decent game i'm willing to give it a shot

Set your expectations low enough and Arena can only meet them at worst, I guess. I'm just trying to stay neutral tho. They pulled a huge party foul cancelling Duels in the middle of a block - but even if Arena is just Duels 2.0, I'll play it. I've had a lot of fun playing Duels the past few years and don't have any regrets over the time spent on it.

If (A) there's a FTP angle, and (B) it's not a cancerous eyesore like MTGO, I'll prob be fine with it. Worst case I'll ignore it and just keep playing Duels until I'm bored to death with the cardpool or can't find matches online anymore.

At this point, my interest is tied to how fun Gwent stays

I'll take a look at it. I need an idle game.

I'd just be looking for an mtg-vibe, actually F2P, timekiller.
But I'm pondering if we'll end up getting only the mtg-vibe.

If it has the same rarity restrictions, selected cards only and blah blah blah I can't see myself bothering. Short of being something like "MtGO but with standard's card pool onward" it'll have to be something spectacular to compensate for the last blunder.

On a different note, shall we construct a buzzword bingo for the press release? I'll start with "integrated".

I've heard people suggest it won't even be a card game

Take out the massive part, just an mo.
It has to be a digital CCG, but the Card game experience could be put behind a pixelated, laggy, third person experience, where you impersonate a junior PWs walking in a 3d environment and battling NPCs through cards.

It all depends on how drunk they were when they first created the "Digital Next" division.

In b4 "epic card battles between players all over the world."

Bonus points if someone tries to call the game "immersive."

Extra bonus if they talk about "procedurally generated decks."

"Third-person F2P procedurally generated sandbox card game MOBA RPG"

Actually, extreme bonus points if they try to claim they have a history of making great digital card game products.
