About the two questions, and people wanting Trump to be a disaster. You have to consider something: if he doesn't end up doing a bunch of racist, misogynistic things, AND attempt to seriously damage the US Democracy... then... Democrats (and particularly their supporters) will have to deal with extreme cognitive dissonance. It's like finding out the world is in fact NOT flat.

I get why members of your family might feel that way... there's no downside for them: Trump won't screw up their country, they don't live here, so it's only the cognitive dissonance issue.

EDIT: If the only/worst thing that happens as a result of Trump is more BLM protests, then the Trump supporters will definitely have been right. Those protests are extremely politically motivated, and based on highly dubious beliefs. It's funny how they disappeared for four years, as though there were no police shootings during Biden's presidency, and it will be extremely telling if they magically return the moment Trump is President again.

Yup you really want the second, thats what we should all want, but, theres nothing in this campaing that do not indicate that Trump and his cult want things to be better for them not the whole country, and certainly not for all the people that voted him.

The question in response to your first point: will better for them, also be better for the majority of Americans, including blacks, latinos, women, LGBTQ, etc.?

Importantly, it would need to be better without disadvantaging certain groups in a very unfair, or disproportionate way. Some things will definitely hurt those groups, because I fully expect some of the DEI/Affirmative Action-type advantages to go away (perhaps even be made illegal), but that's not really the same thing as it's a removal of an unfair advantage rather than the creation of a disadvantage.

The majority over here is white. I'm not worried about the majority at all. I'm sure Trump will be good for them (meaning us).

The question is simple: is good for the majority also going to be good for the minority (at the same time)?

Dunno but maybe races is not the only metric to go by, things like education levels, income, age, gender, health, could be better metrics.

I was just making examples. I would be equally concerned if he created policies that directly hurt 1-30 years olds disproportionately. The examples were much more likely to be relevant to Trump, but I'd be concerned about any major, definable group in the US.

But it should also be clear that this should be an on-balance evaluation. Presidents should be concerned about the average American, and how they do. I'm not going to fault him - too much - if the things he does hurt some people while helping most people. UNLESS the reasons are obviously deplorable.
