It does show cards being played, both creatures and lands, but it could easily be a bastardized HS headbutting contest with creatures being flung across the board.

I'd love it to be a MOBA, just so I can revel in the flames as it crashes and burns. DOTA and League are huge and HoS already has the retard market cornered, so how would they expect to compete?

The amount of franchises that launch MOBAs "just because" is pretty astounding. Marvel, DC, I also count Heroes of the Storm as one purely down to it literally being an advertisement for all of Blizzard's games.

Jokes aside, what is this company thinking? They need to differentiate themselves in a good way if they want to lead the digital market. The MTG story is not strong enough to support cloning established games, and just adding franchise skins. They couldn't even get the Duels model to survive the FTP market, and it was the game that got me playing paper (till bans - never again). I want them to succeed, but announcements from the past two years have not maintained my interest in the future of this franchise.

Edit: sounds salty when I read it back. I am actually hoping they announce a subscription based game in between duels and MTGO with access to all cards, enhanced communication, tournaments, drafts, all formats etc. I would pay for that.

Well Heroes of the Storm exists to bolster awareness in Blizzard's other franchises (hey, it got me to try out Diablo 3, Warcraft and eventually Overwatch when it released) and to a lesser extent, Hearthstone also existed as a means to boost an existing franchise.

Digital CCG nowadays can't really move from the F2P base+grind range.
There's too much competition, and each product is defined by its quality, time/money investment ratio.
Having a modern digital CCG subscription based, would really put a strain on it, considering that people could easily drop in&out of the F2P competitors without much worry.

For what concerns the supposed MMO, we don't even know what the hell it may be, but I can't fathom paying a subscription to kill 10 boars just to appease Jace.
