Long time player peeking at MtG arena. I am kind of interested in dipping my toes into the water - but do we know what happens when beta ends? Do you lose all of your unlocked cards?
1) If yes, I would rather just wait until the game is released.
2) If no, it would suck horribly to be starting out with nothing when the game is released and everyone else has fully unlocked everything.

Don't know for certain, but it's almost definitely #1.

They've confirmed a final wipe, they just haven't confirmed the date of the wipe. So yes, at some point, everything is going back to start. Tis the story of beta testing

When the game goes into release or open beta we will all be in the same boat so you might as well start playing now and get those feet wet.

Hi HenWen, long time no see. Arena is definitely worth it. If you spend real money it gets refunded. Only f2p cards get wiped.

I would wait for a few days for the announced status update on how they will handle rotation.

Odds are 50:50 (imo!) that it will bring a wipe. There are arguments for both ways. Independent of that, yes, every card you get now will be wiped eventually. You'll get ingame currency refunds for any real money you spend though.

Very disappointing seeing no friends list yet. Now that it's out of testing I really don't know if I'll even play since that and a chat system isn't coming. Everyone has heard my bitching before. Hate playing on PC as opposed to console and if they can't even get their **** together enough for a friends list by now the idea of it coming to console seems way, way off.
Also... you don't get any older than me and mjack here on NGA.

I so miss the nights when Sixty and I would hop on and see who we could find and get a whole evening of ffa going with cocktail, smoke and good stories or the TNT Thursday Night Throwdowns. Getting all nostalgic now.
I suppose throwing some money in would keep me engaged. I don't pleasure the idea of starting all over again f2p and so far I haven't spent a cent on the game and have a nice collection. Heck, I still have 20 uncommon, 3 rare and 5 mythic wildcards I haven't used.

Before that one month before you NGA didn't even exist. It was set up in retaliation to the stupid makeover they gave The Mothership. I'm sure you remember that. Despite what Splattercat, I and the other members of the focus group said, they went ahead and messed the place up with the exact stuff we said we didn't like or want. Did I mention that WOTC paid us and had us under a strict NDA and they still didn't listen to us.
