So solo mode is here! An interesting twist and creating some fun in building. Having reasonable success with mono builds. I have of course mono red as I recognised it just needs to be more spike than my TIL then favoured Boros build. The mythics went on one Rekindling and one Hazoret. So at least I have a pretty consistent deck finally.

The solo mode encourages looking at the pool and I have a simple approach, filter on Rares / mythics and just build up the curve. The mono means of course less of a worry on mana issues.

The solo build however I went Izzet. One combo I really loved in Magic Duels was the Saheeli / gearhulk combo. Cloning two gearhulks is epic.

Still sadly this mode can still suffer from the same old decks - a pimped merefolk build, the usual UW control decks.

At least this end of the table I am bringing something different. Some sweet options with confiscation coup and Barral’s expertise.

Best thing - is they made the solo 500 gold. There is no sideboards in this mode and it’s first to 7 or 3 losses. Other than the straight constructed it’s my favourite so far and does make you really consider your whole collection for once.

There are of course 10 2 colour combos. I started with Izzet, any views on what would be a good next combo? Golgari maybe?

Thoroughly enjoying it so far. Started with a Sultai Legends deck ft Mox Amber, Muldrotha, Scarab God, and Kamahl’s Druidic Vow. Was a bit low on the deck after my first run ended at 1-3, but it bounced back to 7-2 in my second.

Tempted to try an aggro deck, I do miss my GR deck from Duels. 5c goodstuff is probably a mandatory stop along the way as well before Singleton goes away.

I had already built a mono-red singleton deck a while ago (before noticing that it wasn't available yet).
It's fun to play some cards that usually don't make the cut in normal decks.
Only tried it once so far and went 7-2.
There seem to be some bugs with this mode though. I got a strange free win instead of 1 of my matches for example and some people have mentioned strange error messages.
Still, it is a nice break from the standard ladder. I'll be experimenting with some more stuff for sure, maybe reanimator next.

I’ve built a UB midrange with the scrub god and GPG, does well but takes forever. I saw some pretty cool gruul and monoblack decks from opponents, so I think I’ll try that next.
