-Kaladesh and Aether Revolt release June 7th

-Everyone will be given one copy of each rare and mythic in KAL/ATR and 2 copies of each common and uncommon. We are also getting playsets of these cards https://i.imgur.com/TGDIN9a.jpg_

-They're also adding BO3 competitive queues. Higher entry fee but higher rewards.

-$5 welcome bundle incoming. They didn't say much about it but it's packs and gems. "generous" is the word they used.

-They're experimenting with a singleton format that will release shortly after June 7.

-MMR directly tied to rank now

This is Awesome!!!

It's not Christmas unless they fix the game's economy long-term. That has almost completely sapped my will to play it until at least after the final collection wipe.

They can afford to be as generous as they want when they are still planning to wipe our collections. I'll be more excited when I have confirmation that this isn't going to be a miserable pay-to-win grind-fest after the final beta wipe.

As for the new sets coming out themselves, it's new content but it's not new to me. I'd be excited if I hadn't already lived through Kaladesh block.

They've made a couple of nice changes in regards to economy, we now get rewards for the first 15 wins, (with the first 4 being the same as before which is great) and Singleton format will be good for F2P guys to allow them to compete with the big boys i think it's been a pretty good day all things considered on the economy front

Wow, they're giving us all the cards I've been hoarding WCs for... Time to blow them all on lands and random crap to fool around with.

All around, I think the changes are positive. A good step in the right direction, there may yet be hope.

Sometimes you just feel like like playing a few more games, so at least you'll recieved something for your time without feeling an obligation to grind out all the wins to get all the rewards.

It’s better that nothing for sure.
If they keep the daily quest rewards you should be able to grind up to 1500 gold and 6 ICR in one seat so that’s better that 1200 by any measure.
I did liked the 4 wins horizon but most times I wanted to keep testing my deck so if I get rewarded for playing a bit more, even better.
You got to admit passing on the beta with the KLD and AER collection they are giving out is becoming harder and harder.
You can build a great Rakdos vehicles deck with just that.

I admit that I still have no issues or guilt passing on the Beta. I'll for sure try it out if it ever comes to Xbox One though. Then I'm going to have a strong reliance on you guys to set me straight on where to start

We'll probably all be grandfathers before that happens.

When we finally get friend features, I'll start pestering the hell out of you to install the damn game (I'm really curious to try facing those mad-barney piloting skillz head-on).

i think i mostly just top deck really well.

i'm getting much better at playing control decks tho. i really like the removal-heavy control decks (as opposed to counterspell ones). Still, i love me some aggro.

I have always considered consistent great top decking to be primarily based on two factors. Constructing your deck well so you have the cards to top deck, and knowing your deck well enough to calculate the odds that you could top deck, and thereby make some plays that seem a bit more risky if you didn't know your odds.

Or it could just be dumb luck, but I give Barney more credit then that.

You hit it I think. I've noticed as I got more comfortable with my main love Drake/Fling top decking became sweeter. It does have to do with the comfort level and willing to play the odds because of the intimacy you have with the chosen deck. I will make an unusual play at times because I just have that feeling I know what's coming off the library next and am mostly rewarded for that.
Sometimes I get spanked but not often.

They basically have to do one of these for Amonkhet as well by the time of the next wipe with Core 2019. Or else people will have to grind for cards that are about to rotate if they want to be competitive.

Actually, I think we've been kind of duped on this one.

Why?

Fastlands.

Do the math, there is a sh/tload of them and getting a full-set is crazy WC grind time, just to improve your mana-base (you do get 1 of each, that helps, but...).
So, they give us the key cards for T1 heaven but not the mana-bases for it... Sneaky.
