Like many others, I have been messing around with the sometimes janky yet always (IMO) fun Throne of the God-Pharaoh. I think this deck could be decent even without the throne, I played it a dozen times last night and found my biggest struggle was mana spread, I used the chart but still kept getting stalled out around 4-5 mana. Could have just been a bad series. The build lies in Jeskai which was always one of my favorite thopter shells. Any advice on tweaks or feedback is welcomed! Creatures- 21 Sacred Cat x3- I needed something for the 1cmc slot, the Cat adds lifegain and can recur. One of my favorite AKH cards Selfless Spirit x2- backup for sweepers if we are really wide Anointer Priest x4- good synergy with all these thopters, early board defense. another of my favorite AKH cards Pia Nalaar x1 Thopter Engineer x3- really ups the speed of the deck- I pulled a combo with procession, Saheeli, and whirler which netted 12 thopters all hasted! Pia and Kiran Nalaar x1- been thinking about just using whirler rogues? Whirler Rogue x3- core card, can tap out the thopters for throne Maverick Thopterist x2 Cloudblazer x2- wanted some draw, lifegain fits theme as well Enchantments/Artifacts- 4 Anointed Procession x2- I also thought about the Spy Network- but didn't want to overload the 4 spot Throne of the God-Pharaoh x2 Sorcery/Instant-7 Dragon Fodder x2- not sold on this card... Baral's Expertise x1- maybe 2? If we can get it out and play one of our 4 cmc power houses, it's a huge swing Dusk x2- this card is awesome here, nothing gets over 2 power, plus the recursion can be epic Reverse Engineer x1- another experiment Devil's Playground x1- been experimenting with this card- seems to have good synergy with the rest of the deck PW's Saheeli Rai x1- awesome on this deck Gideon, Ally of Zendikar x1- goodstuff Chandra, Flamecaller x1- more goodstuff The curve looks like this 1cmc- 3 2cmc- 10 3cmc- 5 4cmc- 9 (including dusk) 5cmc- 6 6cmc- 2 Playing 25 lands, which I don't have in front of me |

great 2hg deck. Recently I build 2hg decks only! This is clearly an interesting strategy. I avoid blue especially double blue, to reduce the mana issues. whirler rogue can tap down all thopters, but remember copters can also do that, same as harvester. So I went straight red white. Added all annointed processions and Valor in Akros. Sram's expertise, master tinkerteer, all red thopters, selfless spirits. Didn't feel need draw too much, since the curve is pretty high and we run all these value cards. Although in 2hg people run enchantment hate cards like crazy, when this deck goes off it's still a blast. |

I'm loving this concept... I tried out my own spin on it. I was initially building around the Throne, but while it's always welcome, this deck really kicks butt whether it shows up or not. My idea was to get lots of servos and thopters out along with a bunch of Lord effects, which can build quite an impressive strike force. 3 Sacred Cat 4 Anointer Priest 2 Smuggler's Copter 2 Throne of the God-Pharaoh 2 Master Trinketeer 1 Pia Nalaar 3 Thopter Engineer 1 Ghirapur Gearcrafter 3 Chief of the Foundry 2 Aethersphere Harvester 1 Oketra the True 1 Pia and Kiran Nalaar 2 Anointed Procession 3 Valor in Akros 2 Sram's Expertise 1 Angel of Invention 2 Dusk // Dawn 4 Renegade Map 4 Evolving Wilds 6 Plains 4 Mountain 2 Clifftop Retreat 2 Stone Quarry 3 Foundry of the Consuls No idea if this is the right mana base; there's a lot of double whites/reds, which means I'm running more mana fixing than usual and it sometimes stymies the curve a bit. That aside, this deck seems to be really powerful in the few test runs against the AI that I tried out. My favorite line: Turn 1: Sacred Cat Turn 2: Mana fixing + another cat Turn 3: Thopter Engineer, throw a cat to die in battle Turn 4: Valor in Akros Turn 5: Sram's Expertise, free cast Chief of the Foundry, resurrect a cat. Servos and thopters all over the place with haste and +6/+6, GO FOR THE KILL. Currently I have ORI/KAL/AER/AKH and 70% SOI; there's a few cards I would love to add, most notably Selfless Spirit. Any thoughts on fine tuning? |

Hey Veto, thanks for trying out the archetype! I'll have to try out the boros version like wanderer suggested. Some thoughts on your version: -are you going the Valor of akros route or the anointed procession route? I saw procession in your build but akros in the description. Both have value, but is really tough to play both as they take up the 4cmc enchatmnet slot, and playing them back to back puts you at T6 which can be too late. -I like the use of lords as a strategy! I'd think about how dusk fits in however. 2 lords and makes every thopter/ servo destroyable with dusk...there may be a better play and could help your curve. -oketra has been underwhelming IMO, the 4 spot is key in thus deck, and you want your play to have immediate value, oketra takes at least a turn to get any value, and even then she is easily blockable. If only she was 3 cmc. -not sure you need 4 maps, maybe 2 would be ok? |

Yeah, after playing with it for a while I agree with most of those critiques. - I forgot to list Valor in my deck; I had both of them (updated my initial post to reflect this). But you're right, they usually compete and two turns in a row of dead plays is too long. Given the Lord theme, I think Valor works better, so I think I'll probably get rid of the procession. - Dusk has gotten me out of a spot once or twice before I got a second Lord out, but probably not often enough to justify, especially in the 4-slot. It's much more often a dead card. It's gone. - Yeah, I like playing with Gods, so I put it in as an auto-include. But I've seen the light now; this deck does not want Oketra. - Probably true; and I just realized that I only have 1 double red card (compared with tons of double whites), so I can probably cut 2 maps for 2 Plains without risking mana screw. I'll make a few changes and see how it pans out. This deck is so much fun to play with; looking forward to tuning it some more! |

Made some changes, and the mana curve is a lot less janky now. Also been playing some multiplayer and it's holding up pretty well. Haven't kept track of the specific record but I've climbed from about 6 points on the ladder. -4 Renegade map +2 Stone Quarry +2 Plains Didn't need quite as much fixing; also realized if I'm delaying mana for a turn, might as well get get access to either color! +1 Sacred Cat - only 1-drop and it comes in really handy, using all 4 helps with the curve +1 Hanweir Militia Captain - this deck goes pretty wide; this makes for an interesting threat +1 Ghirapur Gearcrafter - more thopter generation +2 Declaration in Stone - just a dash of removal to strategically remove threats -2 Anointed Pricession - competes with Valor -2 Dusk // Dawn - too crowded it the 4-slot -1 Oketra the True - why did I include this in the first place? Curve is now 4-11-13-6-1. |

I made something sort of similar in Izzet for grinding gold in 2HG on iOS. This is the current list:
Spoiler
I really want to try Whir of Invention, but triple ... I'll try putting it in for a while and see how it goes. |

I like the take on using reckless Fireweaver to help chip away damage...I think the 2 dragon fodder are out, 2 Fireweaver are in...thanks for the decklist! |
