2 x Pull from Tomorrow

4 x Fog

3 x Telling Time
3 x Censor
4 x Commencement of Festivities
4 x Take Inventory
2 x Compelling Argument

3 x Sphinx's Tutelage
2 x Fevered Visions
2 x Geistblast
1 x Radiant Flames

1 x Bounty of the Luxa
3 x Glimmer of Genius

1 x Jace, Unraveler of Secrets

1 x Torrential Gearhulk

4 x Island
2 x Mountain
2 x Forest
2 x Cinder Glade
2 x Rootbound Crag
2 x Hinterland Harbor
2 x Sulfur Falls
1 x Geier Reach Sanitarium
3 x Aether Hub
4 x Evolving Wilds

5 games in so far with this list and it is feeling really legit.

Kefnet should probably be here, all 5 games I had a full hand pretty much the entire game, although I like the creature light route personally. While answers to Tutelage/Visions are more common now than ever, having basically none of our win-cons as creatures really screws with a lot of decks (and even decks with enchantment removal seem to have issues answering multiple copies of Tutelage/Visions, which this deck seems to easily be able to roll into).

Compelling Argument has been decent so far. Best case it mills for 10 with Geistblast. Worst case it either mills for 5, or helps us cycle into Fogs/Win-cons for cheap.

I kind of want to find room for Confirm Suspicions here, but not sure where I would start to make the room for it.

Bounty of the Luxa I still can't make a call on, since it only showed up in 1 game so far, and it was a game I basically won before I even cast the spell (T2 Take Inventory, T3 Tutelage, T4 Visions with Fog up, T5 Luxa with Fog up.....proceed to sit on Fogs and Censors all day long.

Going to do a little more playing tonight, and will report back. Hopefully I can keep the train going because it feels really promising so far. I will admit though that I have yet to run into the dreaded Insult // Injury or Gloryhole Dragon yet, both of which seem like hard FU's to this deck.

8 games in and not a single loss so far. Now I remember why I decided to wait to do this till after I had finished farming the set, games take forever.

Only 8 games in and I got my first hate mail of the season though. So that is promising!

What are your alternate win conditions if they deal with tutelage?

Well we have Visions, which can and does occasionally get there by itself, and while generally not there for this purpose in particular, Geistblast can provide those last few points of damage alongside Visions (actually won a game earlier using Gearhulk to flashback Geistblast to finish a game).

Compelling Argument has been alright, and I feel like it somewhat lets us get away with running less burn. By itself it is only mill 5 for :2: which isn't great, but may be enough to help finish out the job should Tutelage bite the dust. The real attraction is Geistblast+Compelling Argument, which is mill 10 for :5: which is an alright deal, and again should help to close out games where Tutelage gets blown up. At worst we can still cycle it to hit Fogs or Tutelage/Visions when we need them and the cycling triggers Tutelage itself.

Still testing this angle before I can comment on if it is worthwhile or not though. With 2x Geistblast and 2x Argument that is a total of 20 cards we can mill without Tutelage at all, not sure if that is enough to be worthwhile, but alongside things like Visions/Sanitarium forcing the opponent to draw extra cards each turn, it could be enough to get there without Tutelage (albeit slow as an iceberg, but TurboFog doesn't care about being slow).

We have Gearhulk as well, and while he is a compete and total removal magnet (being the only creature in the deck) I am sure there are times where he will still stick and be more than just Glimmer/Fog on a stick (which is what he usually is here, but he actually won me a few games as a beater back in the Dynavolt version of the deck, so I could see it happening here too).

I think the insane amount of draw power the deck bolsters helps as well. In the few games I played where Tutelage got blown up most of the time I either already had a Visions or another Tutelage on the table, or drew into another copy of Tutelage within a couple turns of the first one getting removed. When you often have a full hand of draw spells and Fogs, finding the second/third copy of Tutelage/Visions comes up pretty often. Most games I end up with either one of each or 2x one of them on the table by the end of the game. To be fair though, I rarely run into Control decks, so T3 Censor/Unmaking hasn't been something I have had to deal with much.

Glorybringer has been a headache, as I am sure Insult // Injury will be as well. Kind of want to wiggle at least a copy of Confirm Suspicions for stuff like this.

As I said before, Kefnet should probably be here, and there probably isn't any better deck out there for him. Almost every game I played I ended up with a hand stocked full of cards for basically the entire length of the game. Still testing Bounty of the Luxa but that spot could very easily be Kefnet.

Edit: Should the whole Geistblast+Argument thing not pan out I could easily see swapping back in some burn spells like Collective Defiance and Fall of the Titans to make the damage from Visions more effective as reach.

Something along the lines of:

Him: Mill takes no skill, you hit rank 40 but you are bad.

Me: I played Orzhov Zombies up to 40 actually

Him: Like that takes more skill or something

Me: You are an idiot

Him: I wish I could draft against you, I would destroy you

Me: Good luck with that. Getting tips from the guy playing Vessel of Malignity in a constructed deck, you are a joke.

From there he got onto calling me a conservative and saying that I support Trump for from what I could tell was no logical reason at all.

That is why I love TurboFog, it brings out the very best in people

LOL "you are a joke" after calling out vessel

I really like the "you are an idiot". Simple stuff like that really seems to work if you just beat them in a match

Should've said something like, "Imagine losing to a mill deck in 2017. Get your priorities striaight."

Meh, I feel like the fact the guy was playing the deck he was was insult enough.

Some weird Sultai discard deck.

He went T2 Whispers of Emrakul, T3 Whispers of Emrakul, T4 Mire's Malice, T5 Vessel of Malignity.

discard Geistblast, Discard Take Inventory, discard Fog and another Take Inventory....Pull from Tomorrow for a million and watch him concede.

Like I said, was kind of hard to take him seriously.

much like George Constanza, sometimes it takes me a few days to think of the best comeback ever, but I just realized what I would have said here. When he says you hit rank 40 with this cuz you are bad, I would have said, "Actually I force-quit matches all the way up to 40. I don't want this to sound mean, but this is my first legit win ever."

So after a decent number of games tonight I feel like Luxa is underwhelming. It isn't bad, just isn't great either. Swapping in Kefnet in its place and I feel he will be great here. I have been on him like a dog as a Control win-con, but if there is anyplace he can shine it would definitely be here.

Also swapped out a single copy of Telling Time for a copy of Confirm Suspicions because not having any hard counters has resulted in a few really close games already.

Will see how it goes.

Edit: The draw power here is VERY real. I just cycled 2x Censor, 1x Argument, and cast Glimmer all in the same turn to draw into a clutch Fog to save my ass. Untapped and drew a Gearhulk, played Tutelage and used Gearhulk to Fog again, untapped again and cast Pull for 11 to win the game.

Having less than 5 cards at any point in time seems like a rarity with this deck.
