i don't keep 1 landers :)

In my 2nd KOTH match against you I did keep a 100% land hand though, lol. "c'mon top deck an actual spell!"

joker, thanks for updating the decklist names, this is more fun now. What do you think about using Vert's descriptors though? That's not a bad idea cuz then people will know what we're talking about as we get more familiar with the lists.

these contests are really fun, Joker. Love it.

I like the Reckless Fireweaver angle in deck 5 although not sure about flameshadow in there. There are some weird decks I will need to try to see if they actually do what it looks like they are trying to do, i'm pretty sure you can't flicker Willbreaker without loosing all the creatures you stole. I can see deck 6 working pretty well as a revolt control type, but probably could use a Call of Unity for finisher power.

(5: Grixis Tokens) Flickering triggers Flameshadow in deck 5 - so seems like you could really do some work with it, Fireweaver, a token generator and Flux. Or candyland 2 generators/Gearhulks and Displace. Seems like builder missed an interesting synergy w/ Inventor's Goggles, with all the Artificers in the deck, tho idk what would get cut for that

(6: Orzhov Tokens) I like Vengeful Rebel in deck 6 - that seems fun. Interesting mix of control and tokens. Not sure about Y.Expertise tho; kills all its own doods. seems great if taking T1-3 to set up with tap lands, maps, and Stockpile, then Yahenni aggro away before dropping its own creatures, but later on none of its own creatures survive it.

(7: Bant Humans) You're right about Willbreaker in deck 7 - leaving the battlefield for blink will cause you to lose captured creatures (card ruling on gatherer). Prob isn't meant to be a blink target, but rather to profit more off blinking Reflector. Interesting take on Bant flicker, going human theme. Curious it doesn't run Rogue Refiners, Renegade Rallier, or either :w::u: flying humans with ETB (tap/lifegain-draw) and went :w: 3 mana blink over Displace. Guessing with less than 10 blinkable creatures, the card draw is better than the 2nd target creature, and decided goodstuff bombs like Tracker and Thalia were stronger choices than ETB mentions above. At any rate, flickering T.Lieutenant in a human deck seems fun.

(4: Temur Fog Tower) I like Trophy Mage in deck 4. Looks like the deck found a cool way to make it worth running, by using fogs/draw/burn/blink spells to help power one of the few 3 mana artifacts that's worth tutoring for. This seems like the most pioneering take, with others having some similarities to each other in various ways.

(3: Grixis Gearhulks) I like the Crain in deck 3, along with Vengeful Rebel (that I liked in deck 6). Wonder if 8 Vehicles/maps/Gearhulks are enough targets tho? Wonder if this deck could have used the Trophy Mage/Tower combo like deck 4? Has a few 3cmc vehicles to grab with flickered Mage too.

(2: Esper Revolt Tokens) like 3 and 6, I like the Vengeful Rebel. Clearly several builders were on that same page. Curious that none of the decks with :b: that went with blinkable ETB kill effects ran Gilt-Leaf Winnower - guess there's just too much competition in the 5cmc spot now. Some interesting choices with the artifact tokens / demon subtheme.

(1: Bant Classic Flicker) Deck 1 is the only one that went in an obvious (well tread) direction. Suspect it will perform the best, because it's already a thing that gets played more or less as is - but am def curious to see if any others can give it a run for its money.

Overall, it's cool to see so many goofy takes on blink. Several using it with Revolt, and several using it on token generators. Really enjoy seeing builds I haven't encountered before. I'm excited to take these for a spin.

Nice job Timh, you gave your opinion about the decklist hiding yours.

So Gem didn't participate this time? :( neither did DJ or Elk? And most surprising of all, no Sh-jock?! I think that guy loved flicker

I just couldn't get in to it. I made a :r::w::u: thopter flicker deck right before AER dropped (I even think you played it - AND it included Valor in Akros) which was fun (and I probably could have refined it by having to add moar blink and submitted it) but; as I mentioned, this theme just isn't one of my favorites. There are only a handful of blink spells (you are forced into :u: or :w: for the most part) and then it's just a matter of ETB triggers you want to consider. It in self combines well with Revolt but we just finished building that theme and I didn't want to 'build it again'. I messed around with a few other janky ideas and then just got fed up with it all and decided I'd wait till the next one to see what it brings.

Good luck to all the builders! Looking forward to reading the match reviews and reports!

Damn! My favourite one (not the most powerful) turned out to be way too ambitious... 5 to go, then. I'm testing them twice as much the last time, to avoid luck being the most important factor

i'll run each one ONCE against the AI just to get a feel but then it's to the lion's den with these things. I want luck to be a factor, but I don't want me not knowing the deck to be a factor.

Elk, i still play that deck! It has a winning record so it's still in the hopper. The name for that deck is funny, "Durdling Mess"

It's all about the subterfuge. :teach: I hadn't thought about how the builders would discuss the decks under the veil of anonymity when we were voting on the option - but I really wanted to share thoughts and comment on the lists.

A little bummed to hear about the builders that tried something but didn't submit. Elk's Jeskai thopters deck sounds like something I would have enjoyed, and I would have liked to have seen Sjokwaave's Flameshadow deck, even if it was ****. Ah well.

Again it wasn't modified for the deckbuilding guidelines (number of flicker spells) nor has it been updated with AER in mind but here's the deck in question: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=17564&p=528547&hilit=mess#p528547

Sorry to let ya down TIMH. I'll do my best to participate next time *cough* as long as the theme doesn't suck again *cough* Haha!

Aw man, all you really needed to do to make it qualify is trade out the Fevered Visions for Displace and you'd have had the 5 minimum. On the plus side you made my odds of winning better by not submitting anything. Now if only I could trick Barney into not testing this round and figuring out mine by his elimination process, I might actually have a shot!

I'd still prefer mine because we're on Page 2 and I have no idea what any of these names mean without flipping back a page.

There isn't a single deck you could build in Duels that would be good with 1 land. We don't have near enough quality 1-drops for that to EVER be acceptable. Only time I would keep a 1-lander would be if I had an extremely low curve and I've already mulled to 4-5 cards.

That's true, I could have made those sorts of changes but there's the chance someone would have recognized the deck (like Barney). Since the contest was indicated to be anonymous, I didn't think I'd get away with it.

Probably the coolest deck, which I didn't submit, used processors to take advantage of flickered/exiled cards. It wasn't good, but it was cool. Probably the most powerful deck I made, but didn't submit was a WG elf deck, with a counter subtheme.

Neither deck was good, nor was any other deck I tried in the interim. This was a rough theme, imo.

Joker , could we get verts names in the poll maybe? They're super helpful

Hope I'm not a pain :(

Zzmorg, I've never kept a one Lander, even with mono red, unless I've mulled to five and have a killer hand
