What am i not understanding about Harnessed Lightning? It can't burn face or PW. Not only is it less good than Chandra, it isn't anywhere needing to be a 5.0 card. I don't even think it's a 3.0.

I MUST be missing something

It's a decent enough card. 3 damage at instant speed with the potential to go much higher is okay but honestly it probably doesn't deserve that high a result if only because our pool is currently inundated with 1-2 CMC 3 damage creature only burn.

Ok, let's make a little bet here. If, by the time of the next expansion, Harnessed Lightning is not the most played burn spell in the format, I'll personally acknowledge that in my first review for AR. Fiery Impulse, Galvanic Bombardment, Lightning Axe, Fiery Temper... I'm confident HL is going to outclass all those cards.

Outclass is a strong word. I mean okay Fiery Impulse has long passed it's prime so yeah I can totally see Harnessed Lightning surpassing that (as if Galvanic Bombardment didn't already). Axe and Temper will still see a lot of play if only because I doubt Madness/Discard Effects will ever stop being a thing and the two are very very good in these situations (Fiery Temper itself is going to stick around simply because it can hit the face).

But yeah I can definitely see Harnessed Lightning becoming the go-to removal spell for more none-madness based decks.
