Well, hey, look at this thing! I didn't comment on last week's article going up so I may as well comment on this one.

First, I'd like to thank OL for taking the time to do this. Two Bullets was the second story I wrote for the M:EM (not including Fisco's dossier) and, man... it really got away from me. Sometimes, when I think back to how I felt while writing it, I feel like I'm always chasing that feeling.

This story in particular (I'm told) was fundamental to how we viewed Jakkard. Since I wrote it while Jakkard was still in conception, a lot of the themes and ideas I wrote into Two Bullets helped to push Jakakrd into greater clarity. Fisco Vane was not made specifically for the plane - originally, I just wanted a planeswalker/loan shark - but man, did he ever fit in perfectly here.

Anyway, I love this portion of the work for two reasons. First, June is my favorite sort of no-nonsense, can't be bothered to be anything but bored character. He's just like, "Welp, Ol' Smokey just walked into my bar a full two decades after brutally murdering dozens of people and vanishing. Better see what he wants to drink."

I love that.

The second reason is that the crux of the entire work is in the scene with Victoria, where Fisco confesses that he only murdered everyone because he was so angry. That's not - That's not Fisco. I wouldn't call him even-tempered on the best of days, since he is always sort of irritable, but he usually deflates before he gets anywhere close to angry. That's because, of course, he knows what happens when he DOES get angry. And it's bad for his business, and his peace of mind.

Or what little left of it he has, anyway.

But I digress. Mostly, I just want to thank anyone who does read this, for reading it, and I hope you all enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed writing it. :)

Hey, thank you for writing the story, Ruwin!

Because, for the record, it's fantabulous. :D

I particularly want to tip my cap to this little exchange:

Quote:
“Talked to Tirk today.” Fisco said.

“May he rest in peace.” June added, shaking his head.

That's about as good as you can get, right there.
