This card is from BCP4. It's part of the living legacy of YMtC, and is one of the cards that showcases our early fascination with giving red busted cards. I guess it comes down to the perception in real MTG that red has the smallest color pie and blue has the largest. Well, in NGA Constructed, red and green are the most powerful colors with the most options -- mission accomplished?

As powerful as Plot Twist is, I like how it shows us a side of red that we don't normally see in competitive play. It's a recurring theme in NGA Constructed, but Plot Twist is the most striking and powerful example of that. It's also a little piece of our history that's powerful enough to compete in our current metagame, and I feel that's very valuable in a time when the Wizards forums are on the brink of destruction.

It seems there's a lot of unhappiness surrounding the card. How would the metagame change if Plot Twist was banned? Would the format be more fun if it was banned? Tell me and I'll make the necessary changes.

I did not recall Plot Twist being from Awakenings, but sure enough, it's talked about in this thread. (Along with a ton of comments in regards to my dictatorial rule, which I argue helped to get the whole thing completed. )

Plot Twist is obviously ridiculous but I think it's been a good influence on the format so far because most of the stuff it hoses is really, really unfair and hard to hate out otherwise. Is the format so reasonable now that we don't have room for ridiculous hate cards? I think it's probably not.

A big reason decks like RB could even exist among fair decks was because of Plot Twist.


I hate the card, but it has a purpose.
