Good day fellow NGA folks. I bring you my first deck. It's a WIP but I think the essence is good. Like last year, I'm focusing on ETB Creatures and how to use and abuse them, so here goes.

Bring Back the Dead (V2): aggro/control

Black: 18
4 x Bone Splinters
1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
3 x Fleshbag Marauder
4 x Read the Bones
2 x Gravedigger
2 x Priest of the Blood Rite
2 x Gilt-Leaf Winnower

Red: 16
4 x Goblin Arsonist
2 x Abbot of Keral Keep
3 x Fiery Conclusion
1 x Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh
2 x Pia and Kiran Nalaar
2 x Flameshadow Conjuring

Artifact: 3
3 x Runed Servitor

Land: 23
8 x Swamp
5 x Mountain
2 x Dragonskull Summit
4 x Rakdos Guildgate
4 x Evolving Wilds

This deck plays fairly straightforward. The two main combos are: 1) Lilliana if you get her ultimate - game over. 2) Flamshadow Conjuring and basically every card in the deck. I'm using sack spells, because we're happy to sack creatures when Lilliana is up, and we don't care about saccing conjuring tokens. Lots of creature recursion options even if none of the three cards are in play. Basically, it's a fun deck to play at this point, and can only get better.

Edit for V2: Plenty of updates here. Got rid of the Goblins, and replaced them with Runed Servitor, I also made a few other adjustments. I'm quite happy with the deck now, so definitely check it out. Note: Goblin Arsonist in, Titan's Strength out

So, here's the questions: did I miss any obvious inclusions? Am I running any cards that shouldn't be in the deck?

Enjoy!

Edit: thoughts for later: splash green for Evolutionary Leap. Would probably be amazing in this deck, especially if I add perilous myr over the scouts (see suggestion below).

Maybe Goblin Arsonist or Perilous Myr over the Goblin Scout?

Oh yeah, I forgot to look at 'when dies' creatures. It's not quite as good as ETB for is deck, because they get exiled, but with all the sack spells, it should be pretty great. Thanks!

Actually, may also try Runed Servitor.

We have the tools to make a steal / sac everything deck. Only problem is I wonder if it's even worth it this time around with all the low power creatures.

I never thought it was worth it last time. That said, we do have some interesting cards to work with this time - all three option R, B, and colorless have cards that benefit you when they die. So you could build a deck based around killing your own creatures, that also has a steal element. I never know if it will be good, because it is inherent card disadvantage, but it could be worth looking into, IMO.

Bloodflow Connoisseur and Nantuko Husk sac outlets and obviously red for 2 different cards for steal effects. And even blue splash for that guy that steals if you target the creature, but perhaps too convoluted.

I wouldn't go 3 colors with this. It's definitely BR IMO. All of the good creatures for the concept are in those two colors, or colorless, as well as the free sac outlets. Don't forget we also have the BR creature that can sac for one mana. He's pretty decent too, as are all the spells that sac creature as part of their cost.

What do you guys think of Rakdos Control?

There's a lot of draw, board wipes and nice fats. Of course, that's a total theorycraft and needs polishing (too few Bone Splinters targets for example, no early game), but something along the line:

4 x Bitter Revelation
4 x Reave Soul
1 x Erebos's Titan
2 x Kothophed, Soul Hoarder
2 x Languish
2 x Graveblade Marauder
4 x Perilous Myr
1 x Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh
1 x Shadows of the Past
4 x Read the Bones
1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
2 x Embermaw Hellion
2 x Chandra's Ignition
2 x Exquisite Firecraft
4 x Twin Bolt

Making a decklist without MisterP's deck builder sucks.

I was actually thinking that black and red removals are pretty awesome. I am looking forward to my next End of Days list!

Avaricious Dragon doesn't fit control decks. You don't wanna empty your hand.

Graveblade Marauder should be in this. A 1/4 deathtouch is an awesome defender. When he gets to swing, he's an awesome attacker as well. And Chandra's Ignition on this guy is a guaranteed board wipe after which he gets to swing for tons of damage. (well maybe not in this version of the deck because you mainly use tokens, but he has the potential to)

Ignition deals damage on power, not toughness. I still agree that the Marauder is a great addition though.

"End of Days 2.0"

4x Fiery Impulse
1x Shadows of the Past
2x Ravaging Blaze
4x Twin Bolt
4x Reave Soul
2x Graveblade Marauder
4x Read the Bones
2x Exquisite Firecraft
3x Blazing Hellhound
2x Languish
2x Gilt-Leaf Winnower
2x Embermaw Hellion
2x Chandra's Ignition
2x Kothophed, Soul Hoarder

9x Swamp
9x Mountain
2x Dragonskull Summit
4x Rakdos Guildgate

Play it like the old End of Days. Rain death and destruction until big bombs drop in for the win. Burn spells can be used as finishers too.

Running the hell hounds because they have a decent body in the meta and allow me more targets for Chandra's Ignition. Their ability can be helpful sometimes too. Not running the black planeswalker because I don't feel I have quite enough creatures to reliable morph her. May put her back in later but that was what I was experiencing in my play-testing so far.

Marauder has deathtouch so it would indeed wipe the board with chandra's ignition. 1 damage deathtouch and the way the ignition reads "this creature deals damage etc"

Oh crap, I didn't factor that part in!! If that is true, I need to minus 2 hellcats for the 2 maurders. Didn't register that!

ya, also Chandra's Ignition with Blightsteal (is this the big scary dude with infect I am thinking of?) would wipe an entire ffa

That's awesome! Thanks for the idea! Hats off! Worth including death touch creatures for sure with ignition. Also, sorry about that. I should have read the cards before commenting.

Yeah, the bad part, is there is a suspiciously low amount of deathtouch guys in this set. I haven't bothered to find out just how many, but pretty sure (at least in black) we just have marauder.
Would be really cool to exploit chandra's ignition with a bunch of deathtouchers and remember I believe lifelink would work too for an absurd amount of life depending on board state.

@2bestest

I don't like chandra at this deck. I don't like her at all, but specially at this deck. I suggest you to drop her and Perilous Myr.

Post subject:  Re: Magic Origins - Rakdos (Black/Red) Decklists

Only other deathtoucher we have besides Marauder is Pharika's Disciple. One key thing is the Marauder is rare and this card is common, so if you were to make a reliable chandra's ignition combo it'd probably be Black/Red/Green and this isn't all bad because green is ramp (albeit kind of crap ramp right now) and bigger fat
