Go Jund and enjoy 4 sweepers and great single target removal :-)

Grixis also wrecks elves, don't you forget.

Yeah, but it has no color fixing, no Nissa and lacks a few bombs green has to offer.

It still sucks compared to green. The best blue creature - Whirler Rogue is a nonbo with the sweepers, counters suck and the best draw is black. In green you get huge value creatures which are ignition targets, color fixing, nice chumps, evoleap and nissa.

I agree with Eriatarka regarding Reave Soul and Bone Splinters. The former hits such a large portion of our current pool, while the latter is inherent card disadvantage.

OK so I finally retired my elf deck. Elves are what I lose to the most so I always feel like they are tier one. But in reality they are super inconsistent. They either win huge, barely win or lose really badly over a long game.

My elf deck seems to be cursed as well. I seem to never find games when I search with my elf deck. My last two games crashed right at the end too. One I think I was about to win with Shaman. The other had resolved 2xSigil empty throne, conjurers, valor in akros. I don't think I was winning that one with all those angels.

Anyway I rage deleted my elf deck and I don’t think I'll miss it. It's so much worse than thopters

I really like this idea. I would find a way to fit in Bone Splinters and/or Soul Reave for planeswalkers.
Perhaps drop one or two of the Cruel Revivals?

you would drop Cruel Revival over Priest, Deadbridge, Despoiler or Elemental Bond? All of those are begging to get nixed for something better.

also, darkstar rocks

elemental bond is the theme for this deck.

also, barney wears socks.

@chile: yeah you could drop cruel revival.

kinda irrelevant since the new cards just rolled in
I suspect that A sultai version of golgari control will replace this as the defacto control shell
either that or esper, due to the new board wipe

once again the dreaded blue will take the game by storm

The Sacrificinator
4 x Blisterpod
2 x Bone Splinters
2 x Carrier Thrall
4 x Gatecreeper Vine
2 x Shadows of the Past
2 x Evolutionary Leap
1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
2 x Graveblade Marauder
3 x Fleshbag Marauder
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2 x Smothering Abomination
3 x Eyeless Watcher
2 x From Beyond
2 x Languish
2 x Priest of the Blood Rite
2 x Brood Butcher
10 x Swamp
8 x Forest
2 x Woodland Cemetery
4 x Golgari Guildgate

Just built this and I'm having a blast. Highly recommended, very effective, feels like the real deal. Utilizes the power of Evolpea and Smothering Abomination or Smotherpea for short to generate brutal card advantage. So many ways to get rid of the 2/2 Priest that the life loss never feels overbearing. Unlike other Golgari decks before it, this one can win very quickly with the fliers. Seems to generate a lot of mana, but I'm not sure what to ramp into. Anyway, lots of fun all around. Please take it for a spin!

Explain "feels like the real deal "

This is the first deck that's interested me so far

No time to test now, but 2 remarks to mull over:

Brood Butcher looks pretty awful, even with smotherpea. I'd find something else there.
I don't think you wanna be using Gatekreeper Vine here, you could replace with more agressive 2 drops or visionaries.

I'm actually running a similar deck list with no Vines or Butchers. I do run Visionaries, as well as 3x Rot Shambler and Ob Nixilis Reignited. The card advantage is insane. Thankfully I haven't come up against mill yet.

Fleshbag Marauder - The Deck

3x Vampiric Rites
3x Shadows of the Past
1x Liliana, Heretical Healer
3x Fleshbag Marauder
3x Gravedigger
2x Retreat to Hagra
2x Languish

2x Swell of Growth
1x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
3x Reclamation Sage
2x Retreat to Kazandu
4x Natural Connection
2x From Beyond
4x Mwonvuli Acid-Moss
1x Greenwarden of Murasa
1x Woodland Bellower

2x Woodland Cemetery
4x Mortuary Mire
3x Fertile Thicket
6x Swamp
8x Forest

Strategy: Create a creature lockdown with Fleshbag Marauder spam that can be recurred using Mortuary Mire, Gravedigger and Greenwarden of Murasa while slowly eating away at opponents life with other stuff. It combos deliciously with Vampiric Rites which also combos with From Beyond

So in Further response to GFTL; here is my WIP take on the Golgari swarm deck :

4 x Blisterpod
2 x Bone Splinters
3 x Perilous Myr
1 x Despoiler of Souls
3 x Carrier Thrall
2 x Rot Shambler
2 x Shadows of the Past
2 x Evolutionary Leap
1 x Reave Soul
1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
2 x Graveblade Marauder
2 x Fleshbag Marauder
2 x Nantuko Husk
2 x Reclamation Sage
2 x Gravedigger
2 x Smothering Abomination
2 x Languish
2 x Priest of the Blood Rite
1 x Ob Nixilis Reignited

8 x Swamp
7 x Forest
2 x Woodland Cemetery
2 x Rogue's Passage
1 x Mortuary Mire
4 x Evolving Wilds

Bit of Enchantment hate, few miser's choices, bit more agressive critters, not bothering with Nissa (omg sacriledge) since it's a bad Borderland ranger in this deck, I don't see it getting to 7 lands.

I've played a few games with a Sultai Super-Friends control deck, and I've got to say, it feels terribly strong. If we had Catacomb Sifter it'd be just filthy. Esper might be trickier due to mana. We don't have fetches like they do in Standard.

Esper has Shambling Ventthough, which is pretty huge imo.
