Too much effort when a simple "yes" will do.

Cyrus,

Thanks for posting. Just a few quick questions, I'm at work so it wouldn't be until tonight till I could sleeve this up, so to speak...

17 creatures does not seem like too many, especially with 2 Shadows of the Past.
How has Alter's Reap been for you? I personally think it is a trap card and not that good...in most situations, you are achieving parity at best, and you really don't have really great cards to draw into with it. I would think Vampiric Rites just superior overall.

I really like that you have stuff to do with excess mana (Akoum Stonewakers). How does your deck stand up to sweepers? It looks like, for the most part, it lays down and dies, waiting for your opponent to drop a fattie for you to steal. Have you seen your opponents wise-up to that and play a bit more conservatively?

Reap is nice to combo when you've emptied you've hand and have Abomination in play, else I get what ur saying about it being a trap.

Hey Kryder, like I said I have only really played a few games with this deck, so there's a lot it hasn't come up against yet, including sweepers. Also, to be honest, climbing the ladder I have faced a lot of poorly constructed decks, which is why I wanted to throw it out there for others to comment on. But I have been really pleased with how it's been running. I draw a LOT of cards, which helps smooth out a number of potential problems. So far I haven't felt short on creatures; I'd rather be sacking my opponents' whenever possible. Altar's Reap is an interesting one because it's pretty poor if you're sacking your own stuff (although it can work with Myr and Stone tokens), but feels like a pretty good deal when it's your opponents'. Most of the time I'd rather have Vampiric Rites, but I only own two and I'm not sure if I'd even want three since it sucks to get redundant ones. Anyway, without Husks I need more sacking outlets. I got really excited the other day when I realized Smothering Abomination lets you draw cards for ANY sacrifice, not just its upkeep. Makes me want to pair it with Evoleap.

The one concern I have is that it's so expensive to steal and sack without Husks. That's where I potentially see this deck coming up short. But I'll continue to play it until I feel it's underperforming. Would love to hear your results!

No worries, bro. I understand it is a concept...not honestly expecting great results, but I have been wrong a few times in my life, this could be one of those times /sarc.

I'm probably leaving work soon (feeling sic, cough cough) and I'll throw something together on this shell and see what I can do with it.

WeCoexist showed up with a Rakdos aggro list in Legend's latest video. List was pretty cool.. don't know what Glory Chaser was doing though.

Man.. that card is so boom or bust. If it's in your opening hand, and you can play it.. it's sick. If it shows up turn 3+.. it's garbage.

I don't think I'd play it without Auras tbh.

Arsonist and Denizen are options.

When I draw Glory Chaser late, he usually meets with a Fiery Conclusion

Nono, I was just saying Glory Chaser isn't the only option. Arsonist makes a ton of sense here. Beast is right that Chaser without auras is not sexy at all

I came accross him a few days ago when I was experimenting with creature based mid range decks (I think in this instance it was simic) and he absolutely destroyed me. I also think this archetype is too weak vs too many othesr to be called a gauntlet deck, but yes, it has the potential to prey on mid range decks (like sackdos in origins was always a counter to gruul monsters) and also ramp decks. If it would be stronger vs red based aggro i'd call it an excellent meta deck. As it is, it 's too '1 trick poney' to really be called competitive on the long run.

I also think arsonist is acceptable here, even though he's not AMAZING or anything. This deck is not truly agressive, it tries to eek out value through saccing stuff and/or stealing it. Arsonist is an early clock that helps you draw cards and pings an utility creature later. From my experience vs him the stonewalkers were absolute mvp. Maybe my opinion of the deck is too high since he did pull of a curved out Ob Nixilis which made everything way too dirty to continue reminiscing.

I'd advocate people playing this in abundance, because then true control decks would have a field day in response.
