An attempt at a simic style bounce deck with a little ramp thrown-in to help it along. I'm assuming the 4-2-1-1 rarity restriction (obviously). Ancient Bounce - 60 Cards 4 x Elvish Pioneer 4 x Elvish Visionary 3 x Nylea's Disciple 1 x Vengevine 2 x Archaeomancer 2 x Garruk's Packleader 1 x Mercurial Pretender ( - Creature - Shapeshifter (R) You may have Mercurial Pretender enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature you control except it gains " Return this creature to its owner's hand." 0/0.) 2 x Species Gorger 1 x Terra Stomper 2 x Pelakka Wurm 2 x Fog 4 x Void Snare ( Sorcery (C) Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand.) 4 x Cultivate 2x Darksteel Ingot 20 x Forest 6 x Island ======== Honestly, I think this forum is suffering because of the angst about how to approach the deck build threads. I believe each colour combination should get it's own thread irrespective of the negatives involved in 30+ new threads being created. Each deck build thread is linked-to via a sticky plus a second sticky with the card pool. In the meanwhile delete all these threads and use my Magic 2015 - Decklists And Strategies thread to post speculative builds up until the game's release. |

Okay. So, I was inspired by a user on the old forums by the name of "Latieon". According to him/her, there is an infinite Time Warp combo somewhere amongst this pile of cards. So...I took it one step further and built a deck around it. The idea of this deck is to go infinite. Make as much mana as possible and tutor for your Archaeomancer. Then abuse the hell out of this card and go infinite Fog, or infinite Time Warp and draw out your deck. Then, once you hit Elixir of Immortality you cannot lose. Also, while drawing out your deck...you can sort of "go off" with Chasm Skulker and make a ton of tokens! This deck is very adaptive and I'd love criticism and ideas. ADD TO THE KNOWLEDGE POOL...AND EVOLVE! EDIT: Just had a thought. Since there are alot of scry effects in the deck...you could include Pyxis of Pandemonium and surprise your opponent with the combo OR include a Sphinx-Bone Wand because we have a few instants and soceries in here. There are multiple routes to victory here. EDIT: Multiple versions of the deck. The most previous version is the most tuned. |

It's awfully dependant on that first Archaeomancer. You need to keep those bounce (and or potentially counters) open all the time to keep him alive, or you're probably in deep brown. On the other hand, when it does work, it is the most likely deck I've seen to make your opponents rage and spit, so bonus! |

Yeah. I JUST found out about deck. I'm so excited for Duels 2015 now! Remember, I have Elixir of Immortality...so I give a damn really. Plus, I have like what...4 tutors in the deck divided amongst 2 creatures. EDIT: I JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR. CREDIT GOES TO "Latieon" ON THE OLD FORUMS FOR MAKING ME AWARE OF THIS COMBO. I BUILT THE DECK, HE/SHE PROPOSED THE IDEA (AS FAR AS I KNOW). |

InFaMoUsGeMiNi wrote: Echoing Roar 2015 deck (Echoing Roar) I like the Archaeomancer, Species Gorger combo but I'm not sure I like a whole deck built around it. I have some ideas but Ill wait until I get the game so I can get some perspective. The idea of this deck is to go infinite. Make as much mana as possible and tutor for your Archaeomancer. Then abuse the hell out of this card and go infinite Fog, or infinite Time Warp and draw out your deck. I can say that I'm pretty sure I'll be running a full set of Frost Lynx, Voyage's End and probably Vapor Snag or Quickling as well. Instant speed Unsummons serve a lot of purposes in a deck like this from preventing yourself from getting rushed, getting another come into play effect or an effective counterspell towards anything targeting one of your creatures (which is basically the crux of the deck) Masks of Simic has a lot more options than Masks of Dimir did last year. It'll be curious to see if it matches up with some of the other good deck ideas out there |

I wanted to start U/G but the starter lists were drawing me W/G, these lists brought me back with thier awesome-ness. Personally I might swap Darksteel Ingots for Meteorites though. They have nice bouncy etb effect even if they f the curve a little. |

If I buy the game, and we all know I will, then I'll probably start by trying to build a Species Gorger deck because that card seems really fun and because I love Simic. Maybe I'll brew now, just for fun? |

Okay, so I've got the deck that I'm going to start toying with once I have all the cards unlocked: 4 x Simic Guildgate 12 x Forest 9 x Island 4 x Young Wolf 4 x Elvish Visionary 3 x Quickling 4 x Pestermite 4 x Cultivate 3 x Nylea's Disciple 1 x Mold Shambler 1 x Vengevine 1 x Bident of Thassa 3 x Species Gorger 3 x Garruk's Packleader 1 x Soul of Zendikar 1 x Soul of Ravnica 2 x Genesis Hydra I tried to fill the deck with spells that are good enough on their own and simply get better with a Species Gorger in play. With that in mind, here are my thoughts on the choices: Young Wolf - comes down early and gets in for some chip damage, then goes into chump-block mode. Bouncing and recasting him is very cheap and it resets undying so he can Fog a non-evasive threat turn after turn. Elvish Visionary - Great on T2 to keep you hitting land drops and a great bounce option in the lategame. Quickling - The flash lets you save a key dude from removal and a 2/2 flier for is great. Not a bad bounce target in a pinch, either, though I'd rather leave my evasive critters on the board. Pestermite - Flash, flying, plus an EtB should be an all-star in this deck. Cultivate - This deck is a bit top-heavy and plans on recasting its dudes, so this fuels the mana requirements nicely while thinning the deck. Nylea's Disciple - This guy gains us a bit of life to help in the battle against aggro and is a great bounce target. Add in the fact the he triggers Garruk's Packleader and you have a winner. Mold Shambler - A silver bullet against non-creature permanents, and a solid bounce target. Bonus points for triggering the Packleader here, as well. Vengevine - This card is very powerful on its own and has some nice synergy in this deck. You can bounce it if you have to and still attack with it, and it's not too difficult to imagine triggering his graveyard clause because we can bounce and recast Quicklings and Visionaries. Bident of Thassa - I have some fliers to trigger this on offense and forcing attacks is very powerful. You can use it as conditional removal or to enable an alpha-strike once you untap. Species Gorger - An undercosted fatty and the engine that makes the deck tick. Garruk's Packleader - This guy has a solid body and since we plan on recasting dudes, we can eventually overwhelm the opponent with card advantage. Soul of Ravnica - 6/6 flier for with upside. Too powerful to exclude in this deck. Soul of Zendikar - 6/6 reacher for with upside. Too powerful to exclude in this deck. Genesis Hydra - We can feel a bit safer casting this guy at lower mana costs in this deck because we can replay him later. This is probably the best EtB in the deck to abuse and the fact that he gets bigger when you recast him is just gravy. It's certainly a theoretical deck, but I think that just playing the creature strategy at first and tweaking the list to adapt to the metagame as you go is the best solution. That's why I've eschewed cards like Prey Upon for now; I won't know if I need them until I see how the meta actually shapes up. Thoughts? |

You know I'm thinking 4 Guildgates (for pretty much any dual colored build) is a bit too much. They are not quite as restrictive as the evolving wilds but still come in tapped and can slow you down a bit. I would probably start with 2 and after testing if I figure 3 is needed add another one. 4 might be a bit much. Now in the 3+ color builds I certainly see running more than 2-3 (but will be running different ones as well). I like the build though and I agree, Simic is really fun and gorger will be a lot of fun to mess around with. |

I sort-of agree with you, except I chose the "start with four" method of testing. I'm excited to try the deck, but I think it could be a touch too top-heavy. I could see me cutting one Hydra and maybe one Packleader for a pair of Frost Lynxes or Timberland Guides, or maybe some spells. We'll see how it goes. |

I did some playing around with InFaMoUsGeMiNi's 2nd build up there. And, it seems like a winner to me. 5 games against the UI and 2 against players, and the only loss was when I kept a 2 lander (with 2 cultivate) and didn't get the 3rd land till T6. I like the wurms in it. I'm thinking about dropping the elixir, but, not 100% sure what to throw in there...maybe another counter, or something like that. |

Death by a thousand cuts while maybe drawing a lot of cards. 0 (0): None 1 (8): 4x Cloudfin Raptor, 4x Spire Tracer 2 (15): 3x Quickling, 2x Military Intelligence, 4x Voyage's End, 2x Nullify, 4x Elvish Visionary 3 (12): 2x Chasm Skulker, 3x Niblis of the Breath, 3x Dissolve, 4x Grave Bramble 4 (2): 2x Bident of Thassa 5 (0): None 6+ (0): None Lands (23): 11x Island, 8x Forest, 4x Simic Guildgate - You don't have to draw off of Bident, but you DO have to draw off of Intelligence - The 4 Grave Brambles used to be Wind Drakes, but after driving for a bit, I felt the need for a bit more defense (meaning, not leaving mana open every turn for counters or bouncing), and this will let Cloudfin Raptor reach a ceiling of 3/4 instead of 2/3. It's also a potential wheat thresher with Bident of Thassa (don't forget about it's other ability) and another something to return with Quickling without affecting your damage output - If you have premium, I would swap the Voyage's Ends with Vapor Snags in a heartbeat - I tried out Species Gorger and he ended up being more disruptive with helpful. He only really synergizes with Visionary and Raptor, and it's not even that great with Raptor. - If you have the choice between playing another dude, card drawing engine, or leaving counter magic up, I would prioritize the counters last as you want them to protect an already assembled board. Obviously it's not a hard rule. If you feel an Anger of the Gods or Planar Cleansing is on the way, by all means, leave it up. - On another premium note, Pestermite for Niblis is a possibility if you want to get more aggressive - Let's be realistic. This is never going to be top-tier. But it ain't Dragon's Roar either. |

Revision time, because Nullify and Niblis of the Breath were underperforming, and the changes give the deck a little more late-game resilience. Changes in bold. 0 (0): None 1 (8): 4x Cloudfin Raptor, 4x Spire Tracer 2 (15): 3x Quickling, 2x Military Intelligence, 4x Voyage's End (still wish these were Vapor Snags), 4x Elvish Visionary, 2x Genesis Hydra 3 (10): 2x Chasm Skulker, 3x Dissolve, 1x Beastmaster Ascension, 4x Gravebramble 4 (2): 2x Bident of Thassa 5 (2): 2x Switcheroo 6+ (0): None Lands (23): 11x Island, 8x Forest, 4x Simic Guildgate Have fun kids. |
