Just slapped this together on a whim. Have yet to actually play with it any to see if it actually works.

[manapie 90 w u -b -r g][/manapie]

Why? Because!

A one vs. one deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (26 :creature: , 10 :instant: , 24 :land:)

Creature26 cards
■■■■
Elvish Visionary1/1
■■■
Lone Missionary2/1
■■■■
Satyr Wayfinder1/1
■■■
Wall of Omens0/4
■■
Laboratory Maniac2/2
■■■
Archaeomancer1/2
■■
Rhox Faithmender1/5
■■■
Saruli Gatekeepers2/4
■■■
Species Gorger6/6
Felidar Sovereign4/6
Spell10 cards
■■■■
Cloudshift
■■■■
Peel from Reality
Séance
Time Warp
Land24 cards
■■■■
Azorius Guildgate
■■■
Seaside Citadel
■■■
Selesnya Guildgate
■■■■
Simic Guildgate
5
Forest
4
Island
5
Plains

Why not include all the nifty alt win-cons in one place.

The deck has Lone Missionary and Saruli Gatekeepers to gain life and be abused by Peel/Seance/Cloudshift/Gorger. With Faithmender in the deck I feel it has the potential to actually reliably get to 40 for Felidar Sovereign.

The deck has Wall of Omens and Elvish Visionary which should help to give the deck some early defense, and they should cycle through cards nice with Peel/Seance/Cloudshift/Gorger to fuel them.

Archaeomancer gets us back Peel/Cloudshift to continue to abuse ETB effects. Singleton Time Warp to open up the option for Infinite turns (which should give you plenty of time to build up a force to kill them, get to 40 life and stick a Sovereign, or mill yourself out). Again more ETB abuse with Cloudshift/Peel/Seance/Gorger.

Not entirely sure if Satyr Wayfinder alone is enough to make the whole self-mill plan work. I am really thinking that Seance+Peel+Cloudshift+Gorger should help to make it happen though. Especially if we are able to buy a bunch of time off of lifegain and/or potentially go off with infinite turns. If nothing else he is an early chump blocker that mana fixes and sets up Seance/Archaeomancer and Infinite turn loops.

Not sure if it could actually work or not, and I plan to mess around with it a bit over the weekend. Why? Because! hehe

Pretty sure somewhere here I have my Bant Exalted list.

If you cant find it I could certainly post it again.

It works pretty well actually. Wandering Wolf with Exalted is pretty good.

Ohh yeah.. I have. All the little white exalted dudes, War Monk, Rafiq, topping out into big green tramplers with exalted for the finishers. Add a pinch of draw and removal.. call it a list. Baneslayer, Battlegrace and Arbor Colossus take care of the skies.

How can folks not run the tramplers in these Bant exalted decks? I get the Wolf (even if it dies to shock) but not including Terra Stomper makes me cry. Running green bombs also helps you be less blown out by Anger of the Gods.. and Terra is the bane of counter decks. Last time I checked.. Pelakka Wurm wasn't a bad card either.

Mostly because it costs 6cmc.

The deck really shouldn't need to rely on creatures that expensive for wins. I feel like we are better with the cheaper creatures.

Getting an Exalted guy or two on the table alongside a Wandering Wolf or Spire Tracer puts people on a pretty quick clock by themselves. Knight of the Skyward Eye is a monster with Exalted, the card already is great for punishing people who let it through unblocked, and Exalted just makes that better (especially the more expensive forms which also give Lifelink/Double Strike). Rhox War Monk is just stupid good in this meta by itself, and is even better with Exalted.

I guess a case could be made to drop Sigil Blessing since we are more likely to be attacking with a single creature to trigger Exalted rather than a bunch to make use of Sigil Blessing. I like having it around to have at least some sort of meaningful interaction with the board (even if it is just a combat trick). The deck could probably get by dropping a copy or two of Gods Willing as well, but I don't think dropping all of them is the correct move.

If anything I would likely replace those slots with more cheap creatures though, preferably with some sort of evasion. More than likely the rest of the set of Spire Tracer.

Hey Ebon! Quick question! Why Spire Tracer over Triton Shorestalker? I'm not seeing any Elf synergy so why not go guaranteed unblockable over mostly-unblockable?

Color concerns mostly. Triton Shorestalker is certainly the better choice, but it also pushes us to wanting to run more :u: so we are more reliably able to cast them early. As it currently stands, the decks doesn't need to hit :u: until T3 or later, and even then only needs to do so if we end up with a Rhox, Roc, or Rafiq in hand.

I was trying to make the :u: splash overall as small as possible, because with our current pool trying to run a more aggro centric build in 3 colors can cause all sorts of consistency nightmares. Hence why most of the :u: stuff is more on the top end, stuff we can afford to sit on for a few turns if need be while we play our cheaper :g: and :w: creatures.

The mana is already pretty shaky as is (I really don't like running this many non-basics in an aggro type deck, but we really need to hit our colors here) and adding more cheap :u: stuff is likely to make our early game somewhat unstable.

They may be worth testing out, but I feel like they are just going to play hell on the mana.

Fair enough. I mentioned it only because I have a similar exalted deck myself and Triton is golden in it - though I lean heavier into U/W with G as the splash so that's understandable.

It was definitely worth mentioning! :D

To be honest with you, if we had better mana that would be the way I took the whole thing. With the full set of both Tracer and Shorestalker, along with Wandering Wolf and the Exalted stuff I feel like it would be pretty powerful, and likely make people rage (ahh memories of Invisible Stalker) because herp derp no interaction unblockable face punch for the win.

Stuff like this is probably the reason they DIDN'T include better mana. Aggro decks are already the kings of this particular playground, and being able to field stuff like Bant/Naya/Mardu Aggro effectively would push that even further in the same direction.

This is my Bant Exalted list. It draws a ton of cards, defends well with all the lifegain/first strike, attacks well with big exalted swings, races well thanks to lifegain, has just enough removal and finishes like a boss with exalted trample damage. It really puts a lot of pressure on the opponent.

Edit: I put one too many Elvish Visionary in the list.. there are only 3.

I personally don't like Reprisal or Prey Upon in the deck and feel you could benefit more from something like Gods Willing, Vapor Snag or Artful Dodge (actually Artful Dodge would go well with your exalted theme and Gods Willing/Vapor Snag would also allow you to power damage through while still protecting your own creatures).

I could definitely see two copies of God's Willing for protection and unblockability.. but Vapor Snag? Hell no. I want to actually remove threats by putting them in the graveyard, not back in my opponents hand where I'll have to deal with them again next turn. I'm not trying to go around the enemy defense, I'm trying to smash right through it with big trample damage, or gaining a bunch of life every turn and racing. If they make a bunch of chumps, fine.. I'll just keep smashing into them each turn, gaining life and removing bodies.. ensuring that when a trampler comes down, their board is depleted. Prey Upon and Reprisal fit that plan as well. I'm not going for tempo only.. I'm wanting to play the long game with this build.. while applying early pressure with exalted weenies whose value carries over into big nasty finishers.

Prey Upon has actually been super good in this list.. Reprisal, not as much but when you need it, you need it.

I see what Elk means by Vapor Snag. Say you swing in and they have enough to block/kill your attacker. Well, Snag just one creature to make it lethal to their creature(s) only, get a few extra points in trample, and be able to smash through that block next turn when he has to be played again. Gives you shenanigans. ;)
