So after seeing the efforts in the bant thread to make a good species gorger deck I got to work on a 4 colour version. It assembles the combo very reliably but can also just control the game and take over the game with card advantage.

Let's do the time warp again

A one vs. one deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (25 :creature: , 11 :instant: , 24 :land:)

Cost 13 cards
■■■■
Elvish Visionary1/1
■■■■
Satyr Wayfinder1/1
■■■
Wall of Omens0/4
■■
Treasured Find
Cost 4 cards
■■■■
Cultivate
Cost 6 cards
■■■
Archaeomancer1/2
■■■
Gravedigger2/2
■■
Séance
Cost 6 cards
Baneslayer Angel5/5
Shadowborn Demon5/6
■■■
Species Gorger6/6
Time Warp
Cost 3 cards
■■
Dinrova Horror4/4
■■
Planar Cleansing
Cost 3 cards
Resolute Archangel4/4
■■
Rune-Scarred Demon6/6
Cost 1 card
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth12/12
Land24 cards
■■■
Arcane Sanctum
■■■■
Golgari Guildgate
■■■
Seaside Citadel
■■■■
Selesnya Guildgate
4
Forest
3
Island
3
Plains
2
Swamp

Seance is the best card in the deck, with it in play you almost cannot lose and it will single handedly assemble your combo.

Even without seance or gorger you can just play a normal ramp strategy with wayfinder, cultivate and bombs.

EDIT: added dinrova horror over genesis hydra

That looks fantastic, I'll give it a shot later this evening. I would still like to see a singleton Hunter's Prowess in here, though, because it's recoverable and reuasable through Archaeomancer. It's probably not necessary but it was very strong in the Bant deck I was testing. Seance probably generates enough advantage, though.

EDIT - My Sultai infinite deck used Dinrova Horror alongside Species Gorger and it is just nasty because it's an answer to any permanent. Can we squeeze a copy of that in here? I'm looking at Genesis Hydra as a possible cut now that Kozilek is in the mix. I'd almost like to cut the Archangel too and play two copies, but without Pelakka Wurm that could be very risky. Could you play two Archaeomancers? What are your thoughts on the Horror?

I cut a visionary and the hydra for the Horrors and ran a few games. I think it made the deck more fun in the long run, but I didn't pull the Hydra at all in the previous games that I was testing. I am going to run a singleton of Hydra and Horror on my next few tests to see if I can draw into him.

Great deck Monk. 6-0 isn't really a huge sample size, but this deck is great at stalling while ramping into the combo. There was only one game that I won without the combo.

Yeah dinrova would be nice, an extra removal spell plus insane with with gorger. I can definitely see cutting hydra, rune scarred is just better at finding cards. I will test that swap. I have updated the deck list.

You need archangel unfortunately. Against aggro you can stall until turn 8 or 9 but will eventually get burned out. Having archangel put you back at 20 pretty much ends the game.

You have the following number of colored sources in your manabase:

:w: - 13
:u: - 9
:b: - 7
:g: - 13

You need :w::w::w:, :u::u:, :b::b:, and :g: to cast your cards individually and you need :u::u::u::u: for the combo to be viable. I know :g: is very important to casting those early Visionaries/Wayfinders/Cultivates, but 13 sources seems like a lot when you don't ever need :g::g:. You could definitely get away with 12 sources, and getting greedy with 11 is probably possible. What are your thoughts here?

The deck is essentially a selesnya deck at the core. You need green mana on turn 2 or 3 every game. Cultivate will fix your mana almost every time. I usually grab 2 islands then use archeomancer to get it back and then fix the rest of my mana. It has been pretty consistent. I could see swapping 1 golgari gate for 1 dimir gate?

I'm running it as is, just opening a line of discussion. I think you can safely have a green source in play by the second turn with 12 sources, but if your other colors are already consistent enough then there's really no need to change anything. Archaeomancer targetting Cultivate is a good solution, and I used that in my first game with the deck (and only game so far).

I did win that game and it felt good. You really have to be mindful of all the options when playing a Rune-Scarred Demon because the deck has so many different pieces and you have to know which zones you can find them in.

I think this is the most difficult deck I have played because you need to keep track of your graveyard, deck and exile zone. Grabbing the wrong card or using seance too much can easily lose you the game.

I'm going to give the deck some solid playtime tomorrow, I've got some extended free time coming my way! :)

Oh yes, this deck will see play time by me as well!!

I am surprised Hakeemypoo didn't recommend cutting one of the seance?!

Monk said it was the best card in the deck and since he's playing Species Gorger then obviously EtB is king. I have to spend some time with this deck.

Ohohoho! This deck is the absolute apotheosis of glorious, GLORIOUS system dynamics. Aahahahaha oh my god this is just GOLD!! Absolute infinite cosmic ejaculation.

Wouldn't mind a singleton of elixir of immortality in here maybe. Since I like to take my time once I get the combo going, I've gotten dangerously close to self-milling sometimes. I can of course save up 8 cards and then discard Kozilek to reshuffle. But it would be easier with an elixir. That is, if you want to keep trolling in infinite mode. I can of course just close the game out long before I self-mill, but where's the fun in that? :D
Most people tend to just leave when they see the combo rolling, though. :P

You're going to have to stop visiting these forums since you'll soon be dehydrated because of all the fluids you're losing. ;)

Yes! My water intake has quadrupled since I started stealing decks of you guys. I find myself having to eat a box of zinc tablets daily just to keep up.

Also a neat trick is to use seance to get back a creature then bounce the token with gorger. It allows you to advance your board position and save the creature bouncing for when you have more mana.

Nice trick. Since we can't stack triggers manually, I assume you have to get a Séance into play before the Gorger to pull that off, though.

I assume so, I have only ever had seance in play first so am not sure.

Think you can do it anyway if you disable auto-resolution? Not sure.

My concern with this deck is surviving long enough. So far it has been a bad struggle without the earlier life gain options present

@2bestest

I have yet to lose with this deck and I am wondering if I am just getting paired well or if it is the decks strength. Have you lost to aggro and if you have what decks did you face?
