The plane of Taramir has reached the end of its time. The struggles of the Waning Age have been forgotten, for the sun has set for the final time, leaving the world in darkness. This new age is one of terror and isolation, as those humans who now survive must make their ways against Demons, once-human Nightstalkers, and the hostility of the plane itself.
Generations have passed in the darkness... This is the world they inhabit.
☼Taramir Block☼ Taramir Block consists of three sets: Taramir, Waning Light, and finally Age of Darkness. All three sets feature the new mechanics Salvage and Decay as well as the returning mechanic Cumulative Upkeep. In addition, Waning Light brought Fateseal into the picture. To this, Age of Darkness adds the return of Vanishing.
Salvage: Salvage is an activated ability that can be activated only when the card with salvage is in its owner's graveyard, when he or she could cast a sorcery. Salvaging a card exiles it and has the listed effects. Taramir introduced Salvage while Waning Light added off-color salvage costs and Salvage spells with effects dissimilar to their initial effect from being cast. Age of Darkness introduces Colorless and Nonmana salvage costs.
Decay: Decay is an ability word that causes one or more depletion counters to be added to the permanent with Decay, and causes it to be sacrificed when too many depletion counters have been accumulated.
THE CARDS
~Common Land Cycle: "Cursed" Lands~ These lands all enter the battlefield tapped and possess a basic land type. For a cost of and putting a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control, they can be untapped. Now if only there were a good way to burn -1/-1 counters for profit...
Plains of Despair Land – Plains [C] (:t:: Add to your mana pool) Plains of Despair enters the battlefield tapped , Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: Untap Plains of Despair
Noxious Loch Land – Island [C] (:t:: Add to your mana pool) Noxious Loch enters the battlefield tapped. , Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: Untap Noxious Loch
Stalker’s Fell Land – Swamp [C] (:t:: Add to your mana pool) Stalker’s Fell enters the battlefield tapped. , Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: Untap Stalker’s Fell
Crumbling Mountains Land – Mountain [C] (:t:: Add to your mana pool) Crumbling Mountains enters the battlefield tapped. , Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: Untap Crumbling Mountains
Retreat Wreckage Land – Forest [C] (:t:: Add to your mana pool) Retreat Wreckage enters the battlefield tapped. , Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: Untap Retreat Wreckage
~Rare Land Cycle: Decay Duals~ These duals have everything you would normally want: They come in untapped and possess the basic land types (allied colors only), making them able to be tutored by anything that looks for land types in NGA Constructed. The catch is, they can each be used three times only before giving out, making them a potent choice for aggro or combo decks that don't need to last too long but a poorer call for midrange or control, decks that want to use their mana constantly.
Fortified Aqueduct Land - Plains Island [R] (:t:: Add or to your mana pool) Decay - Whenever you tap Fortified Aqueduct for mana, put a depletion counter on it. If there are three or more depletion counters on Fortified Aqueduct, sacrifice it.
Sea of Night Land - Island Swamp [R] (:t:: Add or to your mana pool) Decay - Whenever you tap Sea of Night for mana, put a depletion counter on it. If there are three or more depletion counters on Sea of Night, sacrifice it.
Smoldering Chimneys Land - Swamp Mountain [R] (:t:: Add or to your mana pool) Decay - Whenever you tap Smoldering Chimneys for mana, put a depletion counter on it. If there are three or more depletion counters on Smoldering Chimneys, sacrifice it.
Lavalit Grove Land - Mountain Forest [R] (:t:: Add or to your mana pool) Decay - Whenever you tap Lavalit Grove for mana, put a depletion counter on it. If there are three or more depletion counters on Lavalit Grove, sacrifice it.
Powerstone Vinebed Land - Forest Plains [R] (:t:: Add or to your mana pool) Decay - Whenever you tap Powerstone Vinebed for mana, put a depletion counter on it. If there are three or more depletion counters on Powerstone Vinebed, sacrifice it.
~Mythic Land: The Grand Fortress~
The Grand Fortress is a pretty important place: A mountain-sized castle that houses the bulk of the surviving human population, the Fortress was represented in Waning Light by a cycle of "Land - Fortress" Cards with an Urzatron flair, tapping for C alone or if you had all five (yes, that's 25 mana out of a full set). So what does it look like when you put them together at Mythic rarity?
It Looks Like This
The Grand Fortress Legendary Land – Fortress [MR] Indestructible : add or one mana of any color a Fortress you control could produce to your mana pool. : You can’t lose the game and your opponents can’t win the game this turn.
