I want to fire off a quick and dirty attempt at a predictive set. Based on my rough research. I think Ham & Eggs (the set after the Amonkhet block) will almost certainly be a return to Alara. At the point of it’s release we will have just been introduced to two entirely new planes (Kaladesh and Amonkhet) and based on the pattern of recent return to plane sets, they are due to return somewhere. This is nice because everyone already knows what a return to Alara means, enemy wedges. Flavorwise it is also a perfect fit. Nicol Blas was first introduced in Alara and he returns in Amonkhet most likely up to something very devious, our heroes from Alara will need to return to stop him. I’m sure it’s been done on YMTCs before, but I haven’t been a round for a while and am out of the loop, so I’m doing it again, but I’m not doing it alone. As was the original block, this will obviously be split into five Shards, but the overall concept will be that these shards are/have been on the flip side of the original five shards and much like Lorwyn/Shadowmoor we will be seeing bizarro versions of characters and places we’ve seen in the original block. I’d like to recruit some people to help, here are the spots I’d like to fill:

I think you need to work on your predictive research, since 1) The Conflux happened, and 2) Our last 'color-faction' set was a wedge block. Nicol Bolas was also first re-introduced in Time Spiral, Planeswalker cards just didn't exist until after Lorwyn. |

Anyone feel free to jump in. In my defense, #1 can easily be addressed by my vague flavor concoction and Nicol Bolas was a feature character in Alara. I understand he was one of the original Elder Dragons. However #2 pretty much jacks my design guidelines. I'll rework that aspect. It may still be a return to Alara, but not a wedge focus. |

Ok, restructuring... Through, again my mediocre (thanks Mown!), predictive research, here's what I'd like to go with: December 8th they released sample product packaging for Amonkhet, Hour of Devastation, and Ham (Atlazan) and Eggs (Conquest of Power). These are not confirmed set names, but it's what we are going with for now. Link: http://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-news/bo ... -of-power/ Here's what I've gleaned: 1. It appears to be an Atlantis/Aztec themed set 2. It appears to mimc Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation flavor wise, an ancient mythology theme big set followed by a thematic event for the small set. 3. We see new artwork for who appears to be Vraska the Unseen in Atlazan 4. We see Merfolk in Atlazan 5. We see a Human Warrior in COP 6. We see Ajani in COP 7. If we are going with an Egyptian set followed by an Aztec set I think Sacrifice theme must play hard into Ham & Eggs. (EDIT) 8. Nacatl Like (Cat Tribal) 9. Naya >5 power maters 10. Multicolored/Hybrid set. 11. I'm thinking the "Trial of the Five Gods" implies a heavily mono colored set, maybe even color maters theme. It also implies the return of the God cards. I'm thinking that Kaladesh (artifact-theme) followed by Amonkhet being a mono color matters theme would pair nicely with a hybrid/multicolor theme for Atlazan. Any other ideas that we can take from the minimal amount that has been "spoiled" (but not really)?

Could we be looking at the return of the God subtype? |

Also, if you want any traffic at all, you'll have to make a thread in the main forum. We're a small enough community as it is, but virtually nobody checks this sub-section with any regularity. |

I will probably start holding some contests in the main area and use this area to kind of organize my thoughts and archive things. |

I definitely think it'll be based on ancient Meso-American cultures, especially considering how the Conquistadors of real life fit with the concept of Conquest of Power. Fountain of Youth Land {R} : Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. If you lost life since your last upkeep, you gain 1 life and add to your mana pool instead. The lush paradise around the fountain withered as the victors cleansed their wounds. |
