This is a vote for Poetic License, wherein we learn a little bit more of our new friend Raiker Venn. This vote is for the forthcoming week of June 22nd to the 29th.

I will defer to my comments on the original thread for the bulk of my thoughts. Executive summary is that I think this piece is wonderful, and that I give it a hearty "yea," on the explicit condition that Raiker stays away from the following people and things:

- National Public Radio
- Fuzzy socks
- The last thin mint cookie in the freezer
- Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved
- John Turturro

It is ‘more stable,’ dear boy.

Considering the context, I would normally say it should be "most stable", but feel free to correct me on that point.

This being the second Raiker Venn story I have read, though at the time of writing this I have already read "The Destitute Seeker" as well, I must say it fits what I know of him absolutely perfectly. It was no surprise to me to find that Raiker was an oldwalker, for two reasons: one, his particular kind of madness is usually indicative of being a nigh-immortal godlike being exposed to the chaos of the Blind Eternities; two, if he does have the kind of power which I assume he does, one doesn't come across such powers easily. Unless he's making deals with devils (either literal or metaphorical), then I have to assume the acts he is assisting in bringing about he is perpetrating himself – something that would require far-reaching power and knowledge. Essentially, I realize at this point, I'm saying that I feel validated that my initial suspicions about him were correct.

As far as the actual story goes, I would still say that this is something which fits with what I know of Raiker's character, while still adding a couple of unique details and feeling very much like its set within Magic's multiverse. Unequivocal yea.

After re-reading, you are absolutely correct. It should be 'most stable.' I'll fix it.

And thank you! You're very kind.

I gotta admit, I'm glad to see a 'walker in the old vein of "so powerful as to be completely alienated from humanity." This is a cool story, Venn is a fascinating antagonist, and I like where you're going with him.
