I'm also probably gonna be starting a Dossier for Ossia soon, although I've been saying that for a while... anyway, broader context is coming. and is already available if you want to dig through threads in my sig, but I'll clean it up and put it somewhere it's easy to find. it's just that whenever I have time to work on Ossia, writing the stories and making the cards is more interesting so I keep putting off compiling information.

should I be concerned about the fact that there's only been one vote so far?

These things usually take a while, since the M:EM goes by voting weeks.

I used to vote early in the week all the time, but I started feeling like I was monopolizing things, always getting the "first word" so to speak, so I've consciously taken to voting mostly on Saturdays except in special cases.

As I said in the original thread, I like this one a lot. It hits that note of "something deeper going on" in a way that I don't think the other pieces in the series do so far. "Yea."

Voting can be a little erratic, depending on how busy people are at any given time, and how their schedules work out on any given week. But it's not something that requires action on your part -- a lot of times, people get their votes in over the weekend. And, if -- for whatever reason -- we don't get enough votes for a quorum, voting just rolls over into the next week, so a story won't ever lose out as a consequence of low turnout.

Now, the story!

I really enjoyed this one, Razor -- thanks for sharing! Since I haven't had the chance to read up on Ossia yet, I've been going into these stories blind, in terms of understanding who the characters and factions are. And, as Raven said, this one definitely feels like it's a scene pulled from a much larger picture, with all the hints about events yet to come. But I was still able to follow the action, and to get an initial sense for the broad contours of the conflict, here. (At least as seen through Kiber's eyes, anyway -- whose perspective I assume is hardly disinterested.)

Anyway, this piece is crisply written and helped fuel my interest for what comes next. "Yea" from me.

it's funny to hear you say that since A Dying Wish represents what may be the most important moment in the entire Ossia storyline that doesn't involve the Seal, but that's not necessarily visible if you don't know the bigger picture to start. it just looks like an old dude being sad and dying. which, to be fair, it is, but still. I think a part of it in general though is that the Fae are predisposed to view everything as a small part of something else, so their narratives are going to be much more rich with connections than the others. Siege of the Ringpeaks, for instance, is pretty clear about what's going on, what's going to happen, and how it relates to the events at hand. thinking about it, I could put in some stuff about connections to other Isles, because they do exist (one of the characters in that story is one of the allies Selk mentions. I'm not saying which one even though you could flick on over to YMtC and find out for yourself 'cause wooh mystery.) but I'm not sure they serve to illustrate the story events or the broader Centaur society in the same way that involving them here reflects on the Fae.

anyway that was a round-about way of saying "thank you" even if it actually looked like a short ramble about my other works.

For what it's worth, I read this a day or two ago and did like it. It's obviously borrows a huge amount from Celtic mythos, but it feels significantly different from Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. I made a few notes for later wiki pages, but I feel like a dossier of Ossia (whenever you get around to it) will fill in a lot of the current blanks I have.

yeah, that's coming, it's just a lot harder to get myself to focus on that than the card designs or story-writing since it's largely just copying and compiling work I did elsewhere, whereas stories and cards are creating new things. it'll get done, I just need to motivate myself to do it.
