Necromancer's Lament
Necromancer's Lament
Gone is the light from out her eyes, And lost, her mortal flame, As dark as all the midnight skies, Without one star to name, The bitter truth amidst life’s lies, Of pride’s enduring shame.
Remorse, that dark and sour wine, That taints the purest glass, And stains the cloth on which we dine, Is as a flame to grass, It burns as mind and heart align, When mortal souls must pass.
Around where marble flowers bloom, Where moonlight’s veiled in mist, She floats from out her lonely tomb, So desperate to persist, She whispers of a waiting doom, Through lips that once I kissed.
Vanished she through death’s great door, Where love and life are blind, She cast aside the pain she wore, In which she’d been confined, And now she’ll wisdom’s nectar pour, Into my waiting mind.
Everything on land or hell, Each secret locked away, Is found when freed from mortal shell, Awashed in shadows gray, The knowledge rings, a forlorn bell, A toll that I must pay.
Before me, tomes of knowledge wrote Upon my mind their strife, She played for me a mournful note, Cast from a ghastly fife, The sound like claws from out her throat, That grasped my very life!
Oh, you, my love, come to me now, And to my mind infuse All that dark knowledge through my brow, No matter what I lose, Your inspiration is our vow, And you, my ghostly muse.
Rewarded thus with power great, And thusly ever bound, The legions of my minions wait, And claw from out the ground, My piper’s song will pull them straight To me, the dead and drowned.
Now ring the chimes of all you know, My love, entombed in dark, Where knowledge casts its eerie glow, Birthed from a fearful spark, Each secret death can here bestow, Call forth to leave its mark.
My mind, from wisdom’s draught, expands, No longer shackled; locked, The pain cascades like sifting sands, Familiar sights are blocked, But doors are opened by such hands, As life and love concoct.
Unreal it seems, her deathly kiss, Her lips a sapphire blue, The doom they scream, forgotten bliss, That long ago I knew, Love locked away beyond abyss, Where flowers wilt from view.
Souls so entwined, one beating heart, Two minds that dream of when They passed through fields where love would start, Within the world of men, Until those dreams, in flame, depart, To never dream again.
Each lover knows of shame’s great pride, Each know the lying truth, And all will feel the bite applied, By necromantic tooth, I’ll give you all the world, my bride, In your eternal youth.
Now that this poll is officially over, it's time to congratulate Aaarrrgh for designing Hill, which has been decided by popular vote to be the Card of the Month for October 2013!
