I've been meaning to write this for most of this year, because I have a serious problem with chat programs that use enter as a send button. Enjoy.

The style and rhythm was inspired mainly by the ReMix Trapped in the Minds (available here for free), and by the short student animation There's a Man in the Woods (viewable here).

EDIT: corrected an "it's" to "its".

I find it comforting to speak to my confidants comfortably, our clandestine conversations have always started amicably -- but lately, I find there's something I always say:

Damn apostrophe.

This feeling of insanity is building within me, inspired by technology, it's got to be, it comes from nowhere else. I'm not usually one to share my feelings or show that I care, but to be fair, my heart is not made of stone. I'm smart, I don't fear to be alone, I can't hear well, but so what? I can speak and type just fine, I rarely speak what's on my mind, because as I was raised, "if you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all", and I've taken that phrase to heart. I may be a bit of a shut-in, but in case you weren't following, it's not a problem being face-to-face, but one while typing on IRCs.

It's always that damn apostrophe.

Let me be clear, the problem isn't here where I can compose my words into thoughtful prose, but only in those chatrooms that I use. You should know when the night grows long, and I do more wrong, that it becomes the bane of my existence, and despite my persistence, I may need some assistance to battle against that key.

That damn apostrophe.

This isn't something I can do alone, because time has shown again and again that I'm as weak as my mortal bones. Too often it's committed its crime by the time I realize I've hit "send". But the war is never done, and to overcome this devilish enemy I'll need some help. I'm at the end of my tether. Maybe together, we can send this fiend far away forever for its fickle nature, and end it. I call upon you all to help bring about this fall. Only together will we stand tall. Be proud, shout loud from the mountaintop, "we will not be cowed!", do not bow down to those who don't know how it is. Maybe then we
ll be free.

Damn apostrophe.

Very nice work, Luna. A number of those rhymes stand out as just simply excellent, and I absolutely love the ending. Your hard work at rhymecraft has really paid off here. Thank you for writing and posting it!
