It appears compensation is flat and you get it just for having premiums, even when you only have pre-purchase premiums.

I'm not surprised. Given that their aim is to shore up a botched release, it makes sense not to piss anybody off.

I don't mind; I paid for the premium content because I knew I'd make good use of it so the free expansion is just gravy to me.

If you bought the game for 10 dollars by preordering it, you are treated no differently than someone who actually went out of their way to get boosters.

Except I got to use those premium cards over the past three months and they didn't. Think of it as a price drop for late-adopters.

That is kind of BS coming from another guy who spent 40 someodd dollars from the get go.
Then again, I would have done that regardless because of my time value sense.
Free is free, so...

@hakeem, People who didn't pay for any premiums at all are getting the expansion for free. You didn't even have to get the game early. You just have to have one of the previous ones when it was like $2 on sale. :) They sure compensated us.

I was expecting to pay for an expansion but now I don't have to. I'm happy with that.

Since it only tells you that you have the expansion when you start up the game it seems you can accidentally buy it and nullify your freebie, at least from talking to 2best.

I can confirm it.

I bought about 5 premium boosters and had magic 2014. I just bought the expansion on steam and when i launched the game it told me the expansion was free. now my steam wallet is empty :(

Guess I'll empty what I can of my $4.70 in my Steam wallet before loading up the game.
They're not getting my money on this one.

So, just to clarify things - you get the expansion for free if you purchased any of the premium boosters OR pre-order the game?

Yes - if you have ANY amount of premium boosters in your game, launch the game and you will be met with a message that says thank you for supporting them in the past, Garruk's Revenge is awarded for free.

Can't seem to find this message on Xbox.
Alas, expansion doesn't show itself on my xbox marketplace either, so I guess I'll just wait.

Premiums were a distasteful choice, but I guess this is an acceptable compensation.

Thanks. I believe many people had purchased the x-pac prior to launching the game and miss that little surprise, though. Have they told us about it earlier?

They have not told us about it at all. :)

The only way to know is to read a forum talking about it, read some news article talking about it after the fact, or to open your game before buying the expansion. Wizards still hasn't even been bothered to tell us that an expansion is coming yet. :) What a nice way to treat your customers you want to sell things to.

On the day of release, the only info was on forums (mind you, not Wizards sinkhole forums, others). The day AFTER release, Steam news under the game mentions patchnotes and the fact that premium pack holders get the expansion pack for free.

Always a good strategy to delay such information 24 hours, so you get all the extra sales for those quick to click. And a majority of those can't be bothered to complain for a refund, seeing as it's only 5€ or so.
