A devastating loss for our community no matter if he was still playing or not.
A man I called friend.
Check in and leave some words with the family if you feel so inclined.

Thanks for the link Barn

I am sorry I took so long to post these, I was wrapped up in my own bad luck for a few days. Mobius asked me to share them.

The I Love You Dad drawing in the 5th link that his kid did absolutely destroyed me.

Loved the Guitar Hero III guitar.

Miss you buddy

Thanks Covert and Mobius for sharing these

I'll look at these when I get home from work. Don't need any heavy emotions before.

This is absolutely devastating news. He was so young! I can't even imagine how hard it is for their whole family (parents should never bury their kids) especially for his wife and childern. I'm completely heart broken over this

Was it hereditary? An accident? I can't wrap my head around this....

He was a great guy and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Matt.

This is devastating...all the best to his family...I can't even begin to imagine. Didn't ever know him personally, but just through interactions here you could tell what a great guy he was.

Anyone remember which town he lived in? I’m hitting the rock this July with Emily and was thinking of paying my respects to Melissa (I think that was his wife’s name, Beast and I used to comment how beautiful she is).

The funeral was in Mount Pearl but that’s in Town and I don’t think he lived there

That would be awesome Barns I hope you can pull it off, I’m pretty sure CGB knows where he lived.

Hé lived in town?? I don’t know why but I always assumed he lived in some small village somewhere.

Ok so that means he lived in the Mount Pearl neighbourhood which is where this wedding I’m going to is being held. So I’ll totally track down his address and pay my respects to his wife. I always told Hakeem I was going to bring Emily to his place once so I’m glad I’ll be able to do that still.

Thanks Kryder

That's the information I found online...anything else seems to be behind a paywall but it did look to be the same location he lived as far as I can tell.

Best of luck to you, let me know if you were able to get there.

This is embarrassing but social etiquette wise, should I show up with flowers or something? Maybe a gift of some money in an envelope? I don’t think I should call ahead or anything. I think I’ll just swing by the house in July with Emily and wing it.

Well this is awful news. He’s the one who invited me here in the first place after a random duels pairing. A good man,a pillar of the community, and the scourge of Stainless. Thanks Barney and anyone else who was able to see his family.

That is heartbreaking to hear :( I can't believe I haven't checked in here in over 5 months, and this is the first thing I see. Hakeem was a legend in this community, and I'm sure he is sorely missed by all of us. I just wish I could have found out sooner so I could pay my respects. Rest in peace.
