With summer ending soon and a new semester of school on the horizon, this looks to be the tail end of my focus on Duels. When the Next iOS product is released (and I have spare time again), I look forward to checking in on a thriving NGA community.
Thanks for the fun deck lists and quality input on my first few deck building attempts. In the end, I have to agree with the first advice I received from Barney et al. that counterspell decks are not the best approach to the format. Being stubborn, I had to try mono-Blue to be sure, and slowly the deck worked back around to 3 color PW with removal (boring, but effective).
From this process, my hope is that MDN will be an overhaul for the game and make it a better digital experience. Further, for eternal formats, I would like them to put more effort into designing balanced cards in each set. There are a number of cards in the game that shouldn't exist because they are unplayable or strictly worse copies of other spells. A simple design fix could be adding drawbacks or taxes to spells and effects, since this would offset power creep. I think the 3 mana sweeper that skips untap was a cool idea.
Maybe some people enjoy taking turns curving out with one-sided card advantage engines (or counters/removal), but I need more depth to stay interested.
