I loved watching the Aether Revolt Steam Tournament. I am excited to be able to play in the new one. This will be my first tournament as a participant. I have been coming up with several ideas and hope to finalize what I want to play soon. Anyone care to spill the beans on what they are playing? Will vehicles be as strong in this tournament? What
cards from Amonkhet will be strong enough to make it into play? Anyone have a good guess as to what will be the winner this year?

My bet is on control taking this one.

That's said, I have some advice for you: play a deck you really like. Sure, try to find something powerful, but above that play a deck you're super familiar with, and play frequently.

When are decklist due?

Vehicles should still be alright. In terms of new hate, AKH's biggest additions are Magma Spray, Essence Scatter, and Censor - none of the artifact removal made it into Duels. Mardu vehicle/planeswalker midrange, similar to the route we're seeing paper Mardu decks take, might be better suited if those spells are heavily used.

Control decks of all flavors have lots of new toys, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see one of those win. Haven't got around to testing much yet, so I'm not sure how oppressive those decks are now.

From the tournament info:

"Decklist Submission Dates: 15 May - 20 May. This includes the sideboard you want to use if you make it into the top-8.

Decklist need to be submitted to [email protected] for entry into the tournament. Anyone who entered between 15 May - 20 May is registered and their decklist will be posted prior to the first match. "

Something GY or Zombies based would be a smart bet if you're expecting a Control fest.

Do we reckon "The Gods" are going to feature in any of the competitive decks? I know some of their conditional requirements make most if not all truly playable. More interested to see if they feature in professional play.

Likewise looking forward to the tournament starting though Steam and Xbone are not my platform.

The green god is a monster and it will see play everywhere. The others are niche.
I am seeing if I resist the temptation of swinging copters once more, despite still being the strongest thing to do in Duels

I expect to see Hazoret in one or two decks. There are players who prefer playing aggro and it got some new toys to play with. And I believe red will remain the dominant colour.

I think we'll see an awful lot of Glorybringer; I was toying with cutting Avacyn for the second copy in my Mardu list because it's such a beast, but Avacyn is a great response to opposing dragons so I think she stays.

So then just roll through with Scarab Feast.

Tokens, always tokens. :p

I need to tune it better, but I think Dimir tokens is a control killer.

So far all of my decks that I thinking about playing have just a few Amonkhet cards in them. I am starting to be really disappointed in the Amonkhet creatures. I play angels in a lot of my decks, no new angels in Amonkhet. The one creature that I am having fun with is Sacred Cat (don't laugh). He is really good for a one drop.

I have tried all of the gods and Ronas seems like the best but I don't play a lot of green decks. I have had good success with Hazoret. Oketra has been ok and kinda fun. Bontu is the best crewer I have in my Mardu Vehicle deck and doesn't do much else. Kefnet has been the biggest disappointment so far. I hate to say this but, looks like I may play Mardu Vehicles and put in Cast Out and Never to Return from the Amonkhet set and call it ready to go.

Cut // ribbons is also a good one to add to mardooky vehicles.

How many control decks have made top 8 since kaladesh? I think control styled decks are the boogieman in most peoples minds but really vehicles and token decks are probably going to be going ham.

I have been trying draw go on the ladder and its so inconsistent in this meta. Sure with a sideboard they are great but goodluck making top 8 so you can access it.

I'm probably going to play something midrangey like one of the slower zombie builds. I like being able to play aggro vs control and control vs aggro.

I'm going to try in this tournament too. First one for duels. Going to play Sultai Dredge. Seems good against control right now.
This is my post on reddit

How this does against good control or strong vehicles I have no clue.

this is a great list... with some tweaks it might have a chance against my list. You will need to watch out for 4 cards in my list, magma spray, magma spray, magma spray, and another magma spray.

I'd be extremely worried about an aggro matchup, good luck though.

...and sixty is winning the "most pedantic" award so far, I'll try and top him by saying "the green god? Nylea, god of the hunt isn't even in duels IDIOT" :p
