With the influx of new cards, I notice that some deck archetypes have been cast aside. I wonder, though, if there is not some life to be had in some of those old playstyles...

For example, where are we with elves, these days? Ever since losing the Jagged-Scar Archers, I haven't seen too much of them, but the Kaladesh and Aether Revolt sets introduced a handful of elves. Were they enough to inject new life into an old format?

Madness seems like a more viable option than previously, given that the past three sets have introduced tons (not tonnes) of discard outlets, and now Amonkhet has also given us gems like the Archfiend of Ifnir and others that can make the act of discarding an offensive one, even beyond whatever benefit you can get from madness. Is madness due for a comeback?

And allies... No, I'm just kidding.

What other old archetypes are due for revival?
Which ones have been quietly doing their job all along without much fanfare (delirium?)?
What did you have for breakfast?
How can I e-dust off my old Magic Duels cards to their best use?

Yeah, elves were pretty decent last season, but they didn't get much this season so far as I can tell. Madness is definitely currently a deck - I think it's being built under Rakdos hellbent or something. Allies are still pretty strong, but the deck has changed a lot - it's 3/4 colors, runs a lot of PW'ers and only one Aly.

Oh, the sarcasm is strong with this one.

I'd say Ramp is the most due for revival. I'd love to see Donachaid update his old simic ramp deck

Planeswalkers has been doing their job without any fanfare

I had a sausage mcmuffin with no egg, a glass of ice water, and a medium double-double coffee from another place

i dunno

They really need to bring back moss ramp:P G/R using moss and creeping mold would just be glorious.
I'm a terrible person though.

I was really hoping for Haze of pollen and violent impact would be put into magic duels.

I'm revisiting a bunch of decks actually.

Rebuilt my boros humans deck.
Tried out and failed at izzet Prowess.
Reworked my mono-black Demon tribal deck.
Reimagined my Rakdicide/Rakdos Suicide deck.
Am still undertand about the new El Loco build.
Might try some reanimator, seeing as some new bombs actually cycle themselves into the GY, while others Embalm their way out... And I really want to fling an Ulamog.
Updated RG energy with all the nutty new cards for that deck.
I will eventually get around to making a new frog-mill deck.
So many ideas to revisit, that I haven't even tried any really new ones.

I still love my ramp/landfall deck. There are now many great simic (gold color) X spells. The new planeswalkker and the X spell clone. I'll try to build a new version tonight.

Been having fun, actually... Just decided to dust off my old Ally deck thanks to this thread. It's pretty decent now that it has access to reasonable removal. It's still crap compared to the spikiest of decks, but it's entertaining since every card is a lord. It does bring up something though... Two cards we don't run, that maybe deserve the occasional slot: Kor Bladewhirl and Firemantle Mage. Possibly also, Lantern Scout. I'm not saying they are better than other cards in their slots, but they may not be that bad, compared to other options if you are looking for some variety. For example, I often run spells to give me the option of driving in damage, but the mage does that too, and it does it with a body attached. Scout can be a big life gain on the right turn. And Bladewhirl has it's potential place too, albeit much less obvious. I figure the argument is there if you are running Gideon anyway. So possibly as a few copies thrown into a Boros deck of some kind. Certainly Boros Humans could consider them, IMO.

Anyway, that's all I've got on that - just making up for my earlier dismissiveness.

This set has given Gruul Ramp a lot of good stuff, that's a deck I keep meaning to revisit.

I have been loving:
glorybringer
rhonas
croc of the crossing
and reality smasher draw so many concedes when playing them turn after turn.
I use druid of the cowls because putting the croc counters on them is just awesome value:P
