Hello,
What type of deck do you most hate/dislike going up against?

I always used to hate (and still do) esper style control decks (FU counters) because the games would often draw out so long, but now vehicles has emerged as a challenger for the crown.

What makes you groan as soon as you figure out the deck type?

Unleash your hate!

Yep all out control builds are the ones I hate the most as they are often 20min long...

Mill. At least when aggro puts you within 3 life, and those 2x Anguished Unmaking become useless, the game won't last much longer. If both end up in the GY against turn 3 Tutelage, it's a slower more annoying death.

You should make a poll StepUp. I'm gonna assume that a good bit of people dislike Mill and Vehicles.

Mill. Not because of the power of the deck, but only because is boring to play with and against.

Not a bad idea. I certainly respect good control players, often it takes it you 10 or 15 mins before you realise you probably can't win which is infuriating....but when occcasionally you win it's very sweet.

Fog/Mill and Counter spells.

Fog/Mill because it is either a walk in the park or an auto loss depending what deck you are playing.

Counterspells is kinda the same. If you have a light threat deck, you will probably lose, and the game can be much more dependent on who goes first. If have a low curve, heavy threat deck, you can probably win the game if you don't give them too much time to recover.

Vehicles are not an issue for the most part. Not saying they are not a tough match up or that I don't lose plenty to them, but they make up so much of the meta that people are prepared for them. Mill and Counter are fringe enough that most do not prepare for them, and that makes them annoying.

Definitely PW.deck, it's still really tough to interact with them, and once they take over they tend to take 10 minute turns +'ng their 8 walkers every single turn making it miserable to go up against.

Vehicles are the worst because they seem so lazy to build. It's just net decking standard.

Vehicles are really the only type I groan over. The typical ones anyways; the spicey ones (like ones that rely on start your engines and animating auras, for example) are at least interesting to see played out. They're just so much power for so little effort I find them boring AF.

Counters, rest is fairly easy.

control decks, but specifically the counter-spell ones. I don't mind the removal-heavy ones.

More-removal-than-I-have-creatures control decks, just because they seem like they'd auto-lose if I were playing creatureless and just got lucky in the match-up.
But I loathe superfriends the most. Dealing with walkers one at a time is doable, when they drop the second, third, etc... A deck can only do so much damage...
I actually like vehicle decks because they keep superfriends from spreading like the plague
.

I have to say pw.dec is still one of the biggest problem decks in the format. They get punished by some of the more efficient decks in the format, but if your deck is a bit slow, it's probably an auto loss. It's a measure for me now: is the deck 'fast' enough to beat walkers? If not, I need to pack lots of answers.

The main issue is a duels one, from inception they have focused on planes walkers and with more and more the pw.dec is just becoming easier and consistent. Oddly vehicles (at least the flying ones) is what has redressed the balance somewhat but not exclusively. Even vehicles can be a little slow (unless pilots have haste) and slow anyway as it needs vehicle and pilot (again apart from the few exceptions).

We had a few good tools recently to manage vehicles (fatal push) but for some time tools that manage planes walkers efficiently have been lacking.

Vehicles despite their prevalence, as artifacts, have always had tools that can handle them, hence I guess why most here do not see such an issue with vehicle.dec versus pw.dec.

Edit. On topic. Mill, always mill. Such a pain archetype to run against, oddly running artifact / enchant hate can help here too but its much more likely that the win is coming if you don't have answers quickly

Pwer decks can be very tough if you're running a slower deck or they get a nut draw, but aggro seems to be keeping them in check. They don't seem too prevalent on xbone and while I would be inclined to assume it's just a result of the higher D card player base, they arent very prevalent in either tournament. Only 4 pwer decks between the two out of 60-something participants, and they went 2-2 in round 1.

The fact people fear 4 color monstrosities in the era of the Scrounger (which is a free, renewable, instant speed card advantage) and Copters (3/3 flying cyclers for 2 with removal evasion) is confusing as hell to me. You know why you don't run into a ton of PW decks? Because they are dead. Even the tourney PW decks are like Doey's Mardu Walkers or Wintervoid's Grixis Walkers which are basically just Removal.dek with walkers as finishers.

I actually do run into a lot of pw.dec though. :-/
It's usually the match where I determine if my deck is good/not good.

Edit: maybe I should put this another way, I run into PW'ers.dec often when I'm playing janky garbage. I probably see it frequently when I'm not playing garbage, but who knows, because they don't last long enough to find out. The only reason it's one of my hated, is that it deflates my opinion of my favorite janky attempts.
