Hello, ;)

I'm sorry probably this is the wrong place to ask. But I'm a little bit lost. I would like to start playing the game but it's very hard to understand which deck to collect.
At this moment I have all the starters packs + 20 boosters from Origin and I still can't complete any decks listed on the forum or on the wikia.

It is a little bit confusing, we I can't understand in which direction to move, in what order to buy booster etc.
How much money I will spend for booster until I can complete at least one listed deck etc.

I have many questions but main is what are my next steps please?
Thank you very much! :/

You're in the right place.

The game is a little overwhelming at first but you'll get the hang of it.
You are trying to build constructed decks without much of a card base yet so don't try to do that. One of the users here has made some amazing guides on how best to use the starter packs to make decent decks at first. Start with that . I'll see if I can bump the thread for you

Do all the stories and skill quests. Only buy older set boosters when they go on doecial

Thank you I'll be happy to check that thread.
And what do you mean "Only buy older set boosters when they go on doecial"
You mean I need to buy boosters from Origin and not the new expansions, they have discounts on the boosters ? I thought they cost always the same amount of coins.

Oh, so I did it wrong by buying from Origins. I've read that you should focus on Origins first when you start and collect the full one. :(

I think you did it wrong, yes, but there are many here that think that buying Origins first makes sense so it's very subjective

Buy new first and only buy old when it goes on special for 100 gold a pack

You finished all story and skill quests? Get the daily quests and reroll the ones you can't get

Welcome to the game!

I bumped lord rumfish's thread for you
That should help

Waiting for sales is nice but nothing wrong with going for origins first or other packs that look good for the type of deck you want to be using.

What Barney said, Origins is ok but the power level is higher with the newest sets. If you can get Aether Revolt and Kaladesh you can build pretty powerful synergetic decks! Welcome and good luck.

Ok, I will read more about. It's just crazy if each full set is 100 bucks! :D I hope it's not that time consuming to farm gold.

Not the full set being 100 bucks, one booster being 100 bucks. Still, that's a big discount.

Getting 1-2 booster packs a day is easy enough considering you get 30 gold per Ranked win, 20 extra for your first one, and 60 gold at least from your daily quest (often 80 or even 120). Still, games of MTG can take a while, so I'd maybe account for an hour or so per pack.

I'm actually not opinionated that strongly about which is the best set; it largely depends on which kinds of decks you prefer to play. I actually think every set aside from BfZ/OGW is a fine point to start from.

If you play on xbox live you can always join a club and find someone to help you grind gold in Two headed giant mode vs the AI. Helps to have a mic.

Here you can find suggestions for decks that are using only starter cards.
You should finish up all the campaigns in order to unlock all starter cards from all the sets.
Don't bother with the Versus mode just yet, you'll get kicked a lot - at the beginning the AI is your ideal competitor.
Start with Kaladesh cards - you can easily build a very good aggro deck that can win PvP matches.
Don't save gold - if you have 150 gold, purchase a pack. For a limited collection, a new rare is a godsend.
If you have problems brewing, you can use the automated deck builder. It's useless for a big collection but helps a lot new players by forcing useful archetypes that they might miss.
Don't forget to bitch about the game being a piece of crap just because you prefer playing it on your phone or your Halo machine.

I don't have anything to add to what others here have said, other than welcome and enjoy playing Magic Duels!

And welcome to the forums, from a new member!

Sort of... We just started a new season, so for a while, there will be a lot of players with deep card pools at the low ranks. In a few weeks, the ranked matchmaking will start to be relevant again and new players will have a fair shake in vs. Besides, most of the quests require vs games so there's that.

Looking at the deck lists in constructed subforum is fairly useless without everything unlocked. The D card guides Rumfish did should be helpful. AI is fairly predictable in general and utterly terrible with vehicles, so I'd suggest building a decent D card deck and farming AI until you unlock Kaladesh. With Kaladesh you can build a decent aggro deck (RG energy, Boros/Rakdos vehicles) that you can expect to win on the ladder with. That will double you coin rate to help you unlock other sets faster.

Good luck and have fun!
