I wish I were more artistically inclined, because my head has been brewing ideas for webcomics based around Magic Duels properties.

Like, my head has created (completely unbidden by my conscious will) a whole Little Archies/Scooby-Doo scenario (sort of like the Scary Go Round webcomic) of junior high aged planeswalkers in a school where a mysterious Principal Emrakul has taken over the administration and she and some of the new teachers (Mr. Ulamog and Coach Kozilek, primarily) are up to some suspicious goings on, and it's up to the Gatewatch Gang to solve it.

You could have bits where they have to talk to Kiora, the captain of the swim team. And then there's creepy Old Man Ormendahl, on the outstkirts of town, and who knows what's gone on in his old house (which used to be a church or an abbey or something).

Though I work in finance I actually studied art in college and I have to say the only thing I could be bothered to draw in this vein is Jace getting his sh*t pushed in. Is there any chance Bolas kills him in Amonkhet?

This sold it for me and would love to draw it. But i think you should write a little scene to see how this thing would be. If it is fun, count me in.

Well i have to say i have no idea about the lore but i could manage to draw them in a nice cartoonish style and don't think the lore matters that much as they would be highschool teens anyway

It's not about the lore it's about WotC destroying her entire character because some people might get offended by the xenophobe. But that was the freaking point!! None of her actions early on make any freaking sense from her current outlook

What would the Eldrazi be? Opponent school?

Well that's the plot hook of the introductory arc (gives us a good excuse for people to go into detail on each other's backgrounds) that leads into the overarching Emrakul plot.

Op mentioned Scary Go Round. Now I got to read me some more Bad Machinery.
Got to find out just whether the 16 nested roundabouts that compose the Endless Gyratory have any relation to the cursed pearl of the deceased Tommy Binks.

Starting comic story arc...

Tezzeret and his buddies Ob Nix and crew, are the bullies that know (special fighting powers / karate) beating up book worm Jace and his shy Jock friend Gideon every chance they get. Eventually Jace tries to get Tezz back at a party dumping water on him while in the bathroom, Tezz and his 5 buddies chase and catch Jace and begin beating him mercilessly while holding Gideon letting him know he is next, when the old maintenance man at the high school Ugin arrives and rescues him and beats up the six attackers with ease. Amazed, Jace and Gideon ask Ugin to teach them to fight. Ugin refuses, but agrees to accompany Jace and Gideon to the dojo Tezz practices (special fighting powers / karate) to resolve the conflict. They meet with the sensei of the dojo, Nicol Bolas who dismisses the peace offering and demands to set up a match between Jace+Gideon and his other students. Ugin proposes that Jace and Gideon should enter the Under-18 All-Valley special fighting powers / Karate Tournament, where they can compete with all the infinite consortium students, and request that the bullying cease while Jace and Gideon trains. Nicol Bolas agrees to the terms, but warns that if Jace and Gideon don't show up at the tournament, the harassment will continue on Jace, Gideon and Ugin.

At the tournament, Jace and Gideon unexpectedly reach the semi-finals. After Tezzeret defeats a highly skilled opponent, Nicol Bolas instructs Ob Nix, one of his more compassionate students and the least vicious of Jace and Gideon's tormentors, to disable Jace with an illegal attack to his knee and break Gideon’s will to fight. Ob Nix reluctantly does so, getting disqualified in the process. Jace is taken to the locker room, where the physician determines that he can't continue, but Jace believes that if he doesn't continue, his tormentors would have gotten the best of him. Gideon decides he can’t continue if Jace is so badly wounded and leaves the locker room worried for his friend and goes in search for an item a girl named Liliana has that might help him gain the strength he needs to win. Meanwhile Jace convinces Ugin to use a pain suppression technique so that he can continue. As Tezzeret is about to be declared the winner by default, Chandra tells the master of ceremonies that Jace will fight. Jace then hobbles into the ring and faces Tezzeret.

The match is halted when Jace uses a scissor leg technique to trip Tezzeret and deliver a blow to the back of the head, giving him a nose bleed. Nicol Bolas orders Tezzeret to sweep Jace’s injured leg, an unethical move. Tezzeret is horrified at the order, but does so under Nicol Bolas's intimidation. As the match continues, Tezzeret seizes Jace's leg and delivers a vicious blow, doing further damage. Jace, standing with difficulty, assumes the "Crane" stance, a technique he observed Ugin performing on the beach. Tezzeret lunges toward Jace, who jumps and delivers a kick to Tezzeret's chin (or removes his arm or whatever), winning the tournament. Having gained respect towards his nemesis, Tezzeret takes Jace's trophy from the master of ceremonies and presents it to Jace himself as Jace is carried off by the enthusiastic crowd.

@Sl33pHumper Well, i decided to go in a different and simplier direction. I find it too "heavy", as i was specting some more humor inclined stuff. Well, i'm not very good at humor but here i go.

What I'm thinking of is like this: we have an established group of friends in the Gatewatch Gang, plus the assortment of Planeswalkers (and I'm really limited mostly to Magic Duels and want very little to do with established canon, preferring to just use the general motivations of the characters as templates) in your average high school environment. I wouldn't want to set in in the actual realms of Magic the Gathering, but instead use elements from those to add flavour to our world.

Basically, they are normal kids, but as the mystery progresses, and they find out more and more about the weird new teachers, they start to develop certain skills and abilities.

It's a new school year and our friends are called to assembly where we are introduced to the three new members of the faculty, while the old principal, Hixus, has mysteriously vanished. Gideon and the gang want to look into his disappearance and they find out that the new teachers may have something to do with it. I don't really have much of a plot, as it is, but a whole bunch of ideas.

(And, for some reason, as it is my wont to mispronounce magic cards in high-larious fashion, I can't stop calling Ob Nixilis Bob Nicholas. I am so funny, you don't even know.

The gang would run afoul of some other characters, while calling on the help of their buddies, like Saheeli Rai, that foreign exchange student who keeps inventing things, and Sorin, Gideon's rival, the cool, rebellious kid.

The only art note I have written down is 'Jace wears a boodie', which I assume must have meant hoodie.

Really liking the re-designs you've done here - specially like the incorporation of the mana symbols in the designs (though apparently black mages store all their mana in the trunk because egad man). You planning on drawing up the other Gatewatch members? I'd be interested in seeing the rest if you do.

On that note maybe add a link to your deviantart account? I mean I did a quick google search but the only thing I found was an account drawing woman in bondage so... yeah might want to provide a link here.

I suppose at this point you have to ask 'why use the Gatewatch at all'? I mean if they are normal kids from a normal school with no knowledge of the greater MTG universe then you've basically just got a bunch of kids (and supporting cast) who happen to have their looks inspired by the Gatewatch & Co. If that's all you're looking for then that's fine and dandy but I figure the point in making them the Gatewatch was to draw upon the Magic universe, you know?
