This is the first time in awhile I've seen you excited to play a new set DJ.

We crossed a threshold... Duels is now it's own legitimate format. In other words, it's actually interesting, finally.

But fair warning... I'm a student again, so sometime soon, all of my time will vanish. :-/

CGB played a nice one which basically functions as a humans deck until valor arrives (if it does), with always watching and thalia and of course all the red dudes that activate akros on the turn it comes out, he hasn't uploaded the video yet, probably will from Thailand.

Yeah I played a Boros Valor deck and it is very explosive, and virtually game if Valor is not removed with the next turn, sometimes even that does mater if you went 1 drop into pirate monkey into Garrison

I do enjoy the list CGB put up. I'd like to play something more similar to Jeskai Ascendancy, but we don't have enough 3cmc or less token spells

White Expertise into Engineer is just a broken move with Valor on the field even with no creatures you just played 21/21 haste over 4 bodies for 4cmc.

I played AGAINST CGB and his Valor deck a couple days ago. It certainly had the potential to win out of nowhere.. I went 2-1 against it. Lost with the Rakdos Haste deck, bc he had an extremely explosive turn 4 dropping Valor with Hanweir out IIRC. Won against it with White Weenies basically bc I had a 4/6 Aethersphere Harvester, and I won with Legends Superfriends deck which runs 6 sweepers, I believe I drew four of them. I really liked his Valor deck.. I don't think he drew and interaction, so I don't know if he was running any.. but it looks like a great home for Ride Down.

The problem with ride down in a Valor deck is unless you have Hanweir out you need to cast a spell to add creatures to the board and it sometimes struggles to get beyond 4 lands by T5/6 so you are looking at something like dragon fodder + ride down as the best case.

If I was a student nowadays I think I'd reward each hour of study with ONE match of Duels or something. Seems like a good incentivizer.

oh my, does that ever sound like your cup of tea. You made some super boring post with numbers a few days ago and I was all, "here goes DJ again" so I'm glad you're going further down that rabbit hole. very cool.

Both my aunt and uncle did a MA in Economics. One become a medical doctor and the other was president of some charity organization and eventually ran for office.

I'm an advocate for AoI in Boros Valor, and have run it in every version of the deck I've messed with since her release. It's a card that curves in nicely behind a T4 Valor, offers a +4 pump w/ Valor, and still pumps your team without Valor. Tokens synergize with P/P&K/T.Engineer, giving you toys to use even if AoI eats removal right away. What's not to like?

I believe Battlements are worth running along side Garrison most of the time. I can see skipping it because of the decks / demands, but the haste ability is relevant on occasion and flipping Garrison w/ Valor out is Good Times and GGs. The fact you're running C.Lieutenant prob makes it too greedy for your build tho.

AoI won me games from behind after valor in such spectacular maner its crazy.

Guess it was a good call to try it out.

This deck is so much fun holy cow the only think ive lost to until now was a pesky blue deck that countered everything for like 12 turns.

Really not sure about Aether chaser as it sems to not do much maybe i could add a little more removal.

Also not final on the mana base i might switch something out and try Hanweir.

I would love to combo valor, aethertide whale and Tamiyo's ultimate....
