Anybody running a deck using this card? I just can't seem to see where I could fit it in with its high cost unless you just ram it in an artifact deck. I'd love to play it but can't find the slot for it.

I dunno, he'd be decent in a Mardu Hulk Reanimator deck or something. Or as the top end for some deck with a comical amount of cheap artifacts, but that deck would be way too easy to disrupt and defeat.

Thanks all.

I didn't even think about a reanimator deck. I have a Jund one and I can swap out one of the other big creatures and see how this guy plays.

I have it in one deck (that I haven't played much with and haven't drawn it yet), but I've had an opp play it on me in a :u::b: artifacts deck. They got it out T4, and I couldn't find an answer so it just crushed me. Idk how good that deck is if they didn't draw it and be able to cast ahead of curve, but it was rough the time they did...

I dunno, I like Herald, but it seems contradictory. The archetype he pays off biggest against is also the one most likely to have an answer to him in the meta, and that's control. If they don't have a Murder/Unmaking/Declaration/Blessed Alliance, you'll win very quickly and force discard. If they do have an answer, you've wasted however many resources you tapped (including potential damage that turn) for no reason.

EDIT: It's super satisfying to cast Murder after the opponent spams Bone Saws, Maps and Schematics to cheat him out. Have fun with your do nothing artifacts.

Herald of Anguish

I haven't tried it yet, 7cmc is a bit rich and I don't know how many artifacts I would typically expect to have in play to help with the improvise cost. I'm sure on occasion you'd be able to cast it for something ridiculous like 3cmc, but my luck I'd have it in my opening hand every time.

He's decent in my U/B Artifacts deck. He's not super exciting but being able to occasionally cast him for just a few mana (leaving mana open for counters/bounce) is pretty good.

It won me the game every time I played it in UB Artifacts. It's a strong card, but you can only play it in one deck. And no, I don't play trash like Map or Bone Saw.

A Mox that only works for a handful of cards in your deck (and can't play colored mana)?

The Herald is pretty good. Big body, relevant abilities. I use him as a finisher in my Sulti, Grixis, Jund, and Esper Planeswalker builds.

I'm still hot on the card, but I've not played with it yet. I've been too distracted by BGX decks lately, and have a back log of things to try.

Side note: I want to see this card with Donald Drumpf's face on it.
