This tournament is arranged as a casual tournament for IOS players of Magic Duels. The card pool for this tournament will be from Origins (ORI), Kaladesh (KLD) and Aether Revolt (AER) only. The main intention is to provide a tournament vehicle for deck building in a limited pool to try and move away from the common meta and also to provide competitive matches for Magic Duels IOS players in addition to the King of the Hill (KOH) format which will continue to run for the AER season. In general it is expected that players will have access to a full collection or near full given the draw from the cube is random and contains all cards in a set. Participants can sign up in this thread. Each participant will draw a random generated set of Cards from each of the 3 separate cubes for ORI, KLD, AER 3 randomly generated booster packs will be drawn from ORI Cube (3 boosters of 15 cards each booster, 45 cards total) 2 randomly generated booster packs will be drawn from KLD Cube (2 boosters of 15 cards each booster, 30 cards total) 4 randomly generated booster packs will be drawn from AER Cube (4 boosters of 15 cards each booster, 60 cards total) This creates a participant specific pool of 135 cards. From this pool for each match in the tournament create a 60 card deck with 15 card sideboard. Each pool of cards (135) will be published so all participants can see the potential pools for all. Decks and sideboards for each match will remain hidden until after a match completes. Submitted decks and sideboards will be checked for validity against the participants pool. Participants are matched up against all others in a round robin matchup. Depending on numbers participating 2 matchups rather than one may be confirmed. Matches are best of 3 games . Side-boarding is allowed between games. For each new match changes to an existing deck or an entirely new deck and sideboard can be created from players pool. Any card used in any match for a participant that is not contained in the participants submitted pool will result in a forfeit for that match. Completion of matches should be arranged by participants via NGA PM. There is no time limit or pressure to complete matches. Depending on the reception and participants reception future BLOCK tournaments from other sets can be organized. |

Instructions as follows:- Links for the 3 Cubes for ORI, KLD and AER are accessed from links below:- ORI http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/71391 KLD http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/71428 AER http://www.cubetutor.com/cubeblog/71430 In each Cube go to the Playtest Tab and select sealed. For ORI generate your 3 random booster packs. Select Pack Size 15 and Packs 3. Then Hit Open Packs. Save the list of 45 ORI cards this provides (excel is best) For KLD generate your 2 random booster packs. Select Pack Size 15 and Packs 2. Then Hit Open Packs. Save the list of 30 KLD cards this provides (excel is best) For AER generate your 4 random booster packs. Select Pack Size 15 and Packs 4. Then Hit Open Packs. Save the list of 60 AER cards this provides (excel is best) You now have a pool of 135 Cards from the ORI / KLD / AER block. Construct your 60 card decks and 15 card sideboard from these cards. I plan for each player to make their full 135 card pool available. (send list via PM to SquiderDragon). For each match the 60 card deck and 15 card sideboard can remain secret until after match completes. Between matches you can change the sideboard or even build a whole new deck and sideboard from the same 135 card pool. Instructions for Participants with incomplete collections Ideally most if not all participants will benefit from already having a full pool, however to try and make it possible for others who want to join but may not have a full set for any of the ORI, KLD, AER I propose following:- Players still draw as instructed from cube to initially get their list of cards according to random boosters for each set. If they do not possess in their collection a card then they can substitute for one they do have with following restrictions:- card must be from the same set being replaced (ORI, KLD, AER) card must be of the same color as the one being replaced card should have the same casting cost (converted mana) as the one being replaced card should be of the same type (Creature, Sorcery, Instant, Enchantment) as the one being replaced Any non basic land can be replaced with any non basic land that is owned. At the end of the day the replacements are for the pool of 135 cards, a deck of 60 cards and 15 card sideboard still has to be created. If there are special cases that do not fit I will be the final judge to allow / disallow the card in a users 135 cards This should therefore not either penalize unduly or give any advantage to anyone who does not have a full set. Each player will be matched with a round robin for each other, depending on numbers participating we could play 2 matches per pairing (kind of like a home and away game). |

Tournament Diary Notes Tournament OP completed Participants signed up 5 (SquiderDragon, Altashheth, Mortivore, The Hound, Magic Master) Cube lists submitted 4 (Altashheth, Mortivore, The Hound, Magic Master) Once participants confirm they have built their 60 card deck and 15 sideboard I will mark up on the matchup board with z, when played it will show y. We will not record points for each game but just overall match Wins and Losses. Draws where they happen will be noted. Altashheth submitted his decklist and sideboard. Round Robin matchup board updated. When we have at least one more deck submission both players can arrange for first match. I should have mine ready after this coming weekend (21/22 Jan) Magic Master signed up and submitted cube draft list. Updated in Decklist and round robin matchup tables. SquiderDragon cubelist submitted and updated in deck lists. SquiderDragon confirmed decklist and sideboard. Round Robin matchup board Updated. First match can be arranged between participants (Altashheth and SquiderDragon). Jan 23 Match Played between SquiderDragon and Altashheth. SquiderDragon Deck Tech and test videos uploaded. SquiderDragon Match 1 deck list and sideboard posted. Mortivore and Magic Master have their decks ready. Round Robin table updated for available matches for participants to organize via NGA PM's. Sent a pm to the Hound which remains unopened. It seems despite initial interest he may have dropped out. Auunj also mentioned he would not have time to devote to this despite liking the idea. It could just be the 4 of us for now so a return match seems most likely. Following the success (or orherwise) I could try and run with the other blocks but will see nearer the time what the most favourite block will be (either ORI/B4Z/OGW or ORI/SOI/EMN). No response from The Hound so assumed removed from tournament. Feb 22 - Played Cube Draft Match - SquiderDragon v Mortivore Feb 24 - Played Cube Draft Match - SquiderDragon v Magic Master |

hi hound, consider yourself joined. Let me know how complete your collection is. In general the more complete the better. The sets are Origins, Kaladesh and latest Aether Revolt. Follow the instructions in drawing your cards above, any queries just post here. Welcome! SD |

TheHound_84 wrote: Origins 100% Kaladesh 92% Aether Revolt 98% Will check the rules and any doubts ill post it here! thanks Excellent! You should not have any issues. When you draw the cards just PM to me in a list. I will update the deck lists for cubes. After your draw you can start to think about and put together your 60 card deck and sideboard. Don't share that beforehand but it can be revealed after the match. |

keep watching the post. I will update regularly (unless we can get a sticky). Once you have decided your 60 card deck and sideboard let me know and I will update the relevant posts. All results will be in this one thread! (Lesson learned from previous) |

Altashheth wrote: How did Mortivore get so many more origins rares? I'm jealous Haha - in practice though you both should have the same number of rares / mythic from 3 origins boosters. Unless there is something screwy with the Cube sealed routine. I will check! Checked - its possible it treats rare lands differently (Mortivore has a few of those). Let's see how it turns out for others. I am not sure but the draw from the cube may be pure random - so its 15 cards irrespective or rarity. If you therefore get lucky make good use of it! Resist the temptation to draw again. I TRUST you all! SD |

Altashheth wrote: First game played, had a blast. Thank you SD Right, who is next? Matches available will be updated on round board with a z meaning deck is confirmed and thus matchups against it are ready. As matches are played this will be updated to show results so you know who has played and matches yet to play. To date we only have 2 decks built from the cubes so once others confirm they have a deck the matches will become available. Keep an eye on the match up boards therefore. |
