Walking Ballista eh? Nice of them to give 1cwhbc a turn 1 win with his infinite mana, speeds up the process.

Srs note, card any good?

When cast for zero, triggers any "artefact ETBs", "artefact LTBs", "creature ETBs" and "creature dies" effects, as well as revolt.

When cast for anything else, gives aggro a way to get through board stalls, gives ground-based decks a way to hit fliers, makes attacking into your own board stalls more difficult for the opponent (since you can use it to finish off damaged attackers). Good early and good late. I'll be trying it out in several decks.

I like the idea of it in crats, they've always struggled against walkers and this thing can at least ping it for a couple of points before it dies.

I think its nasty in a ramp deck. Cast this with a ton of mana and just win. Also good for infinte mana combos.

But check out some of the +1/+1 token cards, like that cat-monkey.
You can drop him early (T2) then pump him up. Definitely an interesting card, but may be a bit slow

Is it good? Yeah, at least informants where fast mana is a thing... So it replaces Triskelion in Vintage Shops. is it good in duels? Probably not because rarity restrictions

An interesting interaction is that scrap trawler can get him back because he's 0 cc. So you can try and recur him multiple times pretty easily.

He's like a diet Hangarback Walker, so that's a bonus. It's also hard to get rid of him without him getting his damage in. I'll be playing him in multiple decks.

Randoms on steam will STILL pick 2 life every time. And then they'll lose.

I think some of us underrated this card.

Other than constrictor, and retreat to kazandu, are there any other cards that combine favorably with WB?

OGW Nissa seems fairly decent

The problem with building around WB is that +1/+1 isn't too good without the ballista and the ballista is a rare, you'ld do better with a G/W token deck with some incidental counters and use the ballista as an alternate wincon

You might not have tried it yet, but GB counters/energy is the real deal. Definitely the best deck I've tested thus far this season.

Top shelf stuff when combined w/ Snake. Not caring for it much if there's no Snake and counter sharing in the deck. Maybe find good use for it in a (probably sac themed) deck with Pia's Revolution and the artifact doods who let you fetch artifacts back from GY - but haven't gotten around to messing with that stuff much yet.

I like the card in general... but the activation is costly so it's hard to make it work in non-counters related decks perfectly. You need to be able to go long. I think with the snake letting it be a bit more aggressive clearly makes it an A+ in that deck though.

100% agree with DJ about that Constrictor. Here is little BG deck i played last night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BsNec3sf6Y
Surely not the best build but first i did try and build in like 5min.

Testing it in wolves as a way to affect the board without casting spells, I still have to draw it in a long game however, it has always been a finisher for now( already using 8 burn spells, so a creature that doubles as on is okay for me).

I use to think ballista cost too much but changed my mind after including it on GB counters deck. Can pick off pesky 1/1 blockers and can be sac to deal direct damage

WB is a combo piece, and it's only good by itself when your opponents creatures have 1 toughness.
