Not that I really care about it that much because I can take a hit, but what is it with people that like to insult/trash talk to people who create content? I mean, I know that not everyone likes my channel or content but do you really have to be an ass about it? If you don't like it... then don't watch it?

I'm just trying to figure out what the fun in it is? I like constructive feedback that will make me a better player, but damn... there are some real **** out there. It's just a game, lighten up!

Nah, I don't know what that experience is like...

Compared to other games/genres of games (maybe it's inherent to TCGs, I dunno) we have a lot of "back seat drivers". I'm guilty of this too on CGB's stream occasionally. Maybe it's a small community with many egos, there doesn't seem to be much of a market for Duels in terms of consistent and placid viewers. Lots more of "Oh I'd have done this. What did you do that for? Are you dumb? You misplayed" etc.

If you put yourself out there on the internet.. you open yourself up to criticism/trolls. It is what it is. Posts like this prove that they got under your skin.. which is what they wanted to do. It empowers them. Don't let it get to you.. block them, etc.

Fair point, maybe just a little bit... I can take the criticism, that's not the problem. The reason why I started the channel was to make some players better and learn from better players than me, so that's ok because I like to discuss about the game. I just don't understand why some people go all caveman on someone because of a game. Even if you got a point, it's pretty pathetic.

Hakeem had a bunch of people come after him but he took it really well, ask him what his trick is. There will always be basement trolls just dying to dish it out cuz they're hung like a tic-tac or whatever. Giving them attention is not worth it, certainly don't engage with them, that's what they want. You can block them after, no? If you can, let me know and I'll block Gem

Mostly it's just jealously though. Like my snipes at Chris and Drew at their developper video is pretty obvious that I'm jealous they get to work at Wizards Or maybe I'm jealous of their bodies, Chris' well-fed posterior or Drew's AIDS-ravaged frame.

Anyway, don't sweat this stuff Mackey. If it makes you feel better, I heard your channel is really good*!!

If someone takes the time out of their day to watch your content and post a comment about it then you should be pleased. Would you rather people not watch and not comment?

Definitely a lot of "back seat drivers" in magic, like just watching Preprerelease the chat is constantly calling judge or shouting misplays even for a new set that only just got fully revealed that day.

I don't think simple YouTube comments count as "backseat driving". When somebody says "At 22:45 you should have done X because Y" that's a great thing. It means that the commenter is obviously watching your content, paying close attention to it, and choosing to engage with you directly about it. As a creator, that should be exactly what you're looking for. If that sort of comment causes you to go all Tsar Bomba on the person who left the comment (like BBB does ) then it's probably just insecurity on your part and maybe you need to evaluate whether you can actually handle putting yourself out there. Comments are part of the business.

On the other hand, if they tell you they hope your entire family dies in a fire because you play on console, well that sort of thing should simply be deleted and ignored. Yes that actually happened to me.

Because you sicking Mobius the destroyer to, quote, "tsar bomba" on my videos was a sign of security right? Part of the business eh? You crack me up with that self righteous BS tubs.

True those can be a great thing, though on stream I figure it can count more as back seat driving with chat constantly saying what to play or not.

The funny thing was, that guy was always quite pleasant to me, leaving comments, sharing ect ect - until you stopped playing where suddenly i was the worst thing since the holocaust, it's probably Mackey's turn with him haha

No, those comments he made were quite malicious. They fall into the second category. But you went a few steps beyond simply removing and ignoring them and instead removed your entire video from YouTube and dropped out of the Showdown because of it. I'd call that insecurity but we'll just leave it at that. Have a nice day.

It was a reassessment of "who am I doing this for?" Turns out, arseholes. So I decided not to give my time to something that didn't yield enough positive return, for a group of people that clearly didn't want it. Coincidentally the Podcasts were at least one-ofs that were fun for all, that's why I still did them.

Insecurity isn't the realization of putting your hand on the stove over and over burns you, stop projecting.

To me it just means people are engaged. If they have your stream open while they play another game then they're not saying these things in chat (i.e. not engaged). It's a good thing as long as there's no ill intent.

Bounce if you wanna fight, find someone else.
