The real winner is whoever has enough of a social life to quit first.

First impressions of this card: it's not that good. Gideon AoZ is better, and legend conflicts with it. The +1 mode is not strong - sure it shuts down the target, but then so would a removal spell, and you still have to deal with it later. First zero mode is just Gideon Battle Forged's 0-mode, a 4/4 beatstick, which isn't bad but also not particularly strong. Ultimate is irrelevant in duels.

At the moment I'm ranking him slightly lower than Liliana, the Last Hope and Nissa, Vastwood Seer. Nissa, Voice of Zendikar may also be better than this Gideon.

Emblem is nice vs mill, just make sure to plus him out of burn range or keep Ally of Zendikar handy for emergencies.

Ok, after playing a few games with him, I've concluded that he's just as advertised; pretty darn good. Of course your deck has to support him, and you've got to be strategic in how you play him, but he's great.

Has anyone played this vs Mill yet? Does the guy auto concede?

Was playing 2nd Sun on MTGO. Dude has giddeon, beating face, and not once did he make the emblem lol.

So I ran into a guy that played Tutelage on turn 3 and I was like OK now all I need to do is for him not to mill my Gideon, and then I draw it! But he had a Wandering Fumarole out with plenty of lands to activate it, forcing me to use Gideon's +1 mode on it, and then a Fevered Visions that was doing 2 damage to Gideon every turn, and eventually Unlicensed Disintegration + Dynavolt Tower. Not only did Gideon of the Trials not live, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar didn't either.

My valuation of this card keeps going down ...

People who play mill at the moment must be masochists. Ran into one twice earlier, he really tried bless him, first time vs my ramp he actually stayed in the game for quite a while fogging my stuff and watching every enchantment get removed. Second time vs abzan I just exiled his Tuts and ticked up ol Ob Nixilis.

Maybe when vehicles rotate out mill will have a chance...oh wait

edit: I'm actually really surprised we didn't get powerful artifact-only hate, like By Force, since it would maybe open up more room for enchantments.

Mill wrecks me when I don't play vehicles. I played midrange last night and Izzet MillDtnavolt really had fun with me
