But you bring up a good point. If you had an "Enchantment Creature", it would count as both. Good idea for delirium decks. We don't have an enchantment creatures in Duels tho

well once we go back to theros...

I would be so excited if we got some Enchantment Creature cards. I've got decks already in mind the moment that happens.

Yeah the back side of transform cards only matters when it is actually transformed on the field, all other times you refer to the front side.
That goes for something that can't target red cards for whatever reason, those can hit the front side of Avacyn because she is only considered white at the time.

Also the card types are Creature, Enchantment, Artifact, Land, Instant, Sorcery, Planeswalker and Tribal but Tribal is an old and defunct type that's never being brought back so it is never going to matter in Duels.

So I'm not crazy, once something's declared blocked, its blocked right? That's why you can block and sac or burn the defending creature and still not deal damage. so why when I blocked Flameheart Werewolf did it's attack still hit me after the blocker died?

Did it get trample somewhere along the way (e.g. by a Neck Breaker)?
If yes, it'll deal excess damaga to you (which is all of the damage)
If not, it shouldn't have become unblocked, so it shouldn't have dealt damage to you.

no trample, it killed the blocker from the 2 damage effect, then its "target line" came back and it hit me.

In the rock, paper, scissors meta of deck archtypes, what beats control again? I always forget.

Aggro crushes control. Control beats ramp. Ramp beats aggro.

Supposedly.

I need to start playing moar aggro. I can't take these 30 minute matches waiting to die. I don't mind losing to ramp at all. At least they put you out of your misery.

Thanks for showing up last night and for the post-game analysis of the t3 move and the last turn move. Interesting stuff.

how exactly does indestructible work? I know obviously you can't use pure damage or "destroy" effects, but I know -x/-x effects work. For some reason a combination of damage and -x/-x does not work though?

I can somewhat answer this, I think. Say your opponent has a 4/4 out and ready to swing. You have a twinbolt and the instant colorless that gives +3/-3. You can still damage their indestructible I believe and then toss out the +3/-3 to kill it. In theory. I'll have to test this one myself which won't be too hard considering almost every duel has seen some +1/+0 creatures you control gain indestructible card recently

^that won't work if the 4/4 is indestructible

If your opponent has a 10/10 indestructible and you cast Grasp of Darkness on it, it is now a 6/6 indestructible. No amount of damage will destroy it. Dealing the damage before or after the grasp changes nothing, you still have an indestructible creature with useless damage marked on it. The confusion comes from the fact that Duels makes no visual distinction between marked damage and toughness reduction.

If you cast 2x Grasp of Darkness and 1x Dead Weight on our very hypothetical 10/10 indestructible creature, it is now a 0/0 indestructible creature. It still won't be destroyed by damage, however it goes straight to the graveyard as a state-based action - based on its state of being a creature with 0 toughness or less.

From what I understand, Duels simplifies damage dealt to a creature by changing its toughness till the end of turn, when actually its toughness stays the same and it just has the damage marked on it.

e.g same reason you can't Fiery impulse an Outland Colossus then kill it with Gilt-leaf winnower as although duels will say it's a 6/4 it's actually still a 6/6 with 3 damage marked on it till end of turn

And there are other ways around indestructible too, right? Removal. What about death touch? Is an indestructible protected from that? But thanks for clearing up the damage, I had thought it would work.

No deathtouch is a destroy effect, doesn't kill it. Exile effects are your best defense. Green has an Enchantment that remover hexproof and indestructable, I guess that would work... Still, ulamog flipped tormentor and Gideon are the only indestructable creatures in the card pool (excluding the White Instant spells' effects), so thats not really a very useful card...

New rules question...

When I play a sorcery or instant and my opponent plays an instant in response, can I use Geistblast from my graveyard as a response and copy my original spell?

yeah, if I have the mana. I got called on a rules thing this weekend (in real life) when I played Geistblast from graveyard as a response. My opponent said that I have to copy the spell immediately before passing priority to the opponent. I said that since my original spell is still on the stack, I can target it. I'm 99% sure I'm right but need some confirmation. If anyone can quote something from the rules to support this, i'd greatly appreciate it.

Yes.

So if you cast burn, and the opponent countered it, you could still copy your burn spell and that copy would resolve before the counter resolves.

But if you cast a burn spell and then try to copy it with Geistblast and then the original spell gets countered in response to THAT, then Geistblast fizzles.
