You have not been paying attention have you? I lost 3 - 4. And the last post pretty much explained it. Every time I set something up like this, it's a crapshoot to how serious it's going to be if not determined ahead of time. I forgot to do that. And I really did not expect you to keep playing random until after the third game.

I said I would play random all ten games and was prepared to do so.

No biggie.

So I just played what 20-ish games with Neo. I won... some of them? Look I can't remember what I was typing three seconds ago how do you expect me to remember what happened in each and every game? I was gonna record them but FRAPs hates my computer and frame rate bombs every time I turn it on. Maybe Neo remembers something more in depth.

Too many for me to remember details, but, here's what I got:

Silk (DW) vs Garren (MM) - Garren wins
all I remember is I didn't play great (in my notes) and Garren got a bunch of counters
Silk (GoL) vs Garren (MM) - Silk wins
He was playing on random...i think he ran out of unsummon, and I got someone to stick, and piled on the auras
Silk (MM) vs Garren (BB) - Silk wins
Thought it would be tough, until I found a lord.
Silk (AG) vs Garren (HS) - Silk wins
I'm random here, and while I'm swarming over him, I realize that I've gotten some good decks..
Silk (SH) vs Garren (CMD) - Garren wins
And, that's what I get for the realization above.
Silk (LoD) vs Garren (LoD) - Silk wins
Garren started out with 2 imps, but stalled for lands.
Silk (SS) vs Garren (SM) - Garren Wins
I really dont remember this game
Silk (DW) vs Garren (DW) - Garren wins
I remember this being close, but me just coming up short
Silk (DW) vs Garren (GoL) - Silk wins
Finally managed to win with zombies.
Silk (CMD) vs Garren (BB) - Silk wins
I remember casting dust twice...
Silk (AG) vs Garren (GoL) - Garren Wins
Dont remember
Silk (DaB) vs Garren (GoL) - Garren wins
I just ran out of burn too early
Silk (AG) vs Garren (SS) - Silk wins
I'm pretty sure this is the game where I started with 3 champions...
Silk (MoD) vs Garren (FW) - Silk wins
Super close, I drew my 6th land for spinal embrace to win before vortex killed me
Silk (UB) vs Garren (AG) - Garren Wins
No christmas land for me...not even close
Silk (HS) vs Garren (MoD) - Garren wins
Had a 11/11 ooze..but, it got embraced
Silk (EtD) vs Garren (DW) - Garren wins
Had good cards and some ramp...Garren killed me just after I ramped...

Overall, Silk 8, Garren 9

I didn't know you were going to play random in the first place. I missed that somewhere. I wasn't even exactly sure it was random until slivers showed up.

@sixty, creatureless D&B vs slivers is a one-sided matchup at best. The game was basically me letting him cast all of his noncreature spells while slowing draining his creature resources bit by bit.

Wait I won? Awesome! Just... what 3 more to go and I take the lead?

So if I remember correctly, all 7 games were close.

Avacyn vs Guardians: We both got a bad starting hand, so no advantage there. He got greater auramancy soon enough for it to be a problem, and he would have won if I had not just been really on the play after turn 3.

Mind maze vs Dragons: This game wasn't that close, but that was only becasue I got 3 counters in my starting hand and drew both a 4th and an unsummon. Even stuck on 3 lands mind maze can beat dragons with that.

Deadwalkers vs Guardians : I didn't get any removal. He got a coronet on a spiritdancer. The game ended that way.

Demons vs Avacyn: This was an uphill battle for me all the way in which I eventually came out on top. He basically overran me with tokens at the end after topdecking the last minute removal he needed to live.

Sylvan Might vs Samurai: I had to go to 4 cards due to 2 all land and 1 no land hand. He was able to exile my only chance at getting past his jitte, and the jitte just dominated after that.

Dodge and Burn vs Slivers: Devilwuster never had a chance.

Dimir vs Unfinished Business: My dimir put up the good fight, but realistically dimir can't win this matchup.

Flashback Increasing Devotion with Honor of the Pure was planned.
Just beat you down until I got up to nine.
You kept me at bay most of the time and at the moment it was the only thing that would win the game.

Edit: ohhh, you mean the O ring.
Yah, taking out No Mercy had to be done.

Yes. The o ring. I would have had enough life to survive the 20 damage hit and my demon would have killed you next turn. The second o ring on my rune-scarred won you the game there.

That's why I asked you to write things down...
I forgot about the game ending Ring on Demon.

Games 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 the winner just ran away with.

The demons vs Avacyn was the only one that was that interesting, and I don't feel like describing a turn by turn of that.

For anyone who cares the removal that showed up was 1 path to exile and 2 oblivion ring vs no mercy, grave pact, diabolic edict, 2 damnation, and a doom blade.

It can, pretty consistently too, it just requires a build that removes the discard and adds in all 3 Veldaken Dismisser. Between Countersquall, Hands of Binding, Evil Twin, and even Commandeer (on a Reanimate), it has options to deal with a turn 2 fatty, and if it gets to the late game, it will probably win.

I think the discard version of Dimir is a lot better but I'm toying with a non-discard version and it's better than I thought it would be.

Let me rephrase that. Dimir doesn't stand a good chance without altering its deck in a way that makes it do worse in the other 16 matchups.

Too many for me to remember details, but, here's what I got:

Silk (DW) vs Garren (MM) - Garren wins
Okay this one was won due to luck of the draw more than anything. Despite his protests Neo didn't really do anything that jumped out at me as a bad play. I basically got enough bounce and counters to get to turn four and drop a Lord of the Unreal and Phantasmal Image. From that point I had enough mass to keep him on the defensive and enough counters/bounce to prevent him getting a Lord out long enough to matter. After which it was just a case of rushing him for the victory.

Silk (GoL) vs Garren (MM) - Silk wins
This started out as much a repeat of the last game - Unsummon and counters keeping the field clear until I could drop the same combo as last time. Unfortunately Neo proved a little faster then I and took advantage of a lull in my draws to get a Spirit Mantle on to a Kor Spiritdancer followed by Greater Auramancy. With that set up there was nothing I could do to stop him killing me.

Silk (MM) vs Garren (BB) - Silk wins
Pretty much as stated - I had a nice bounce package and a Kor Hookmaster to pop his Illusions right up until he dropped a Lord of the Unreal and my entire plan went up in smoke. A late game Cloudgoat Ranger and Cathers' Crusade gave me the power to survive until (and mostly likely win) next turn - until an Unsummon took the Ranger out of the equation.

Silk (AG) vs Garren (HS) - Silk wins
It's HS vs AG. How do you think it went? I get a round of breathing room when I was able to get Predator Ooze out with an Elephant Guide attached but a quick Path to Exile (what else) allowed his to start pouring the beats on me.

Silk (SH) vs Garren (CMD) - Garren wins
Neo plays the 'No Silver' SH build giving me all the time in the world to ramp up and stomp him out. Entirely one sided.

Silk (LoD) vs Garren (LoD) - Silk wins
Three swamps and 2 Soot Imps would have made this a decent opening hand against any non-black deck. So Neo gets LoD too! I don't get my fourth land until around turn 7-8 at which point Neo has a couple of 6/6 Flyers and a Diabolic Servitude to laugh of any removal I throw his way.

Silk (SS) vs Garren (SM) - Garren Wins
I get pretty much the perfect plays with an Elf every turn until turn five at which point it becomes two every turn. Neo has a Kitsune Blademaster with a few nice pieces of gear on him but as the number of elves grow I simply overwhelm him.

Silk (DW) vs Garren (DW) - Garren wins
Neo goes first and puts up an early beating. We go at at and pretty soon he's down to 12 life I'm down to six hoping he doesn't draw into a Corrupt. I get a Lord out to give my Zombies a slight edge and stall the game then drop a Grave Titan to push the numbers in my favour. One of the closest of the night.

Silk (DW) vs Garren (GoL) - Silk wins
Neo Doom Bladed everything I got an aura onto (or was in the process of putting one on) while smacking me around with his undead hoards. I did eventually manage to get a Kor Spiritdancer out and buff it to the gills but Neo popped one of his own undead to let Grave Pact deal with that thread. I think I hit him maybe once in the whole thing.

Silk (CMD) vs Garren (BB) - Silk wins
This was pretty much all Neos. I mulliganed hard and still got nothing to write home about. I don't know if he remembers but All to Dusting my Soul Warden (and basically just her) actually won him the game - the life points I was denied by her death would have let me survive the next turns Avenger of Zendikar swing and drop a Sunblast Angel to reset everything. Oh well.

Silk (AG) vs Garren (GoL) - Garren Wins
Neo throws out a low blow by dropping T2 Thalia causing me to run in slow-motion for the entire game. I manage to get Spirit Mantle to stick to a Kor Spiritdancer and get Greater Auramancy out before he Paths it. This made him stall for a turn giving me the time needed to slap Armored Ascension on a Skyhunter Skirmisher and hit him for exactly 20. OHKO! Although in all fairness if he had dropped his Increasing Devotion rather than stalling to see how it played out I wouldn't have stood a chance.

Silk (DaB) vs Garren (GoL) - Garren wins
I got pretty much every creature in my deck and was content to let them poke Neo un-aured to force him to use his burn and counters up. Worked well enough as I was able eventually (like turn 11) get Sigil of the Empty Throne out overwhelm him with 4/4 Flyers.

Silk (AG) vs Garren (SS) - Silk wins
He played Champion of the Parish, then Honor of the Pure then two more Champions and another Honor. Despite my best efforts I couldn't grab the Protection from White Sword. Neo's removal simply proved too formidable and his dudes too powerful.

Silk (MoD) vs Garren (FW) - Silk wins
T3 Sulfuric Vortex turned it into a race I would have literally won by doing nothing. I got greedy however and dropped Cyclops Gladiator despite being fully aware Neo had no way of killing me with out current field positions. The Cyclops gave him the extra four damage he needed via Spinal Embrace to finish me off. I was kicking myself over this one.

Silk (UB) vs Garren (AG) - Garren Wins
Neo doesn't get the T2 Exhume combo going (missed some 2/3 pieces) and I'm playing AG. His last ditch effort is to Reanimate a Scion of Darkness that immediately eats removal and leaves him eight life poorer for the experience. I knew I wasn't running that thing for a reason.

Silk (HS) vs Garren (MoD) - Garren wins
Neo got Predator Ooze out on turn three and I spend an age throwing stuff under it (both his and mine) to buy me time. I eventually get an Evil Twin out to make straight attacks useless and manage to counter his Rancor. He never hits his fifth land (which hurts as he has two Overrun effects which could have finished it for him. In the end I Spinal Embrace his Ooze for the win.

Silk (EtD) vs Garren (DW) - Garren wins
I get the perfect run of Gravecrawler, Lord of the Undead and Undead Warchief out turn after turn. He died before he could play anything but ramp.

Overall, Silk 8, Garren 9

Seeing the match ups made me remember things so I filled in a few details. Thanks Neo!

Oh, dh50, that's where I know you from! Hey there! We played 3 or 4 games 2 days ago and a couple of games earlier :) Name's Lexxx in Steam. I was playing UB and you had FW with tons of arsonists and lavamancers, right? :) Then we've changed decks for a couple of times and you left :(

Oh right, I remember you Lexxx, I didn't know you were from the forums. We had some decent games. I didn't leave though - from my end it appeared you were the one who left. I guess the connection must have dropped or something. I thought it was strange you had left since you were winning the last game but I guess if you didn't actually leave it makes sense.

I'd look forward to some games in the future. I can't play this weekend but I'm pretty free next week.

Anyone using steam, add me - same name as here.
I could do some 1v1 ~ pretty sure my mic won't work - as it is the only one that works in our house is my husband's and I'd rather use it for TNT.

I've got 2 major upgrade projects for clients going on at different times this weekend...so, my availability for nice, fun, long sessions will be limited - but I might be up for a few games off and on, especially since I'll be glued to my computer.

But - I have done my absolute best to try and schedule around TNT for tomorrow night!

Do you know that for sure? Did you test a non-discard version of Dimir?

I really think you only need to pull the Rats and the Mind Rot, as (iirc) most other stuff that discards has a seperate mode for drawing as well (Consult and Guildmage). And if you run Thought Scour (IDK why you would) then you can just target yourself to fuel your Demon, or drop them for something that actually has an affect on the game.

Doesn't seem like too much tweaking.

mjack, the biggest problem that you had in that game is you were throwing discard at me even after you knew what I was playing.
By the time you played Chitterings on me it didn't matter anymore.

I played against AlphaGaia today. Very good player and a nice guy. We played more or less 8 or 9 games. I don't remember the details.

Why wouldn't I? You had the imp anyways, I needed creatures, and mind rot actually hit a sift. The top deckish war we got was probably closer than the alternative...... me doing absolutely nothing and just getting beat in the face to no end.
