In this thread everyone misses power creep. Even at mythic rarity some of these cards are too damn powerful, I mean sneak attack? Reanimate? Yeah that's going overboard. What next, demonic tutor? Even a stupid card like moss had a very negative impact on the meta.

Would Snappy warp us? Now if you gave us Force of Will, Path of Exile etc, sure. Hard to imagine 1x Snapcaster Mage ruining our meta or making a whole new oppressive deck, he's too "fire and forget". However, something permanent like Jitte would do that.

Playing 2014 last night and there's nothing quite like attacking with a 12/12 Soul Warden!

May be not broken with the current cards but he could get you some serious value in flicker decks. He can also chump and murder a creature in the same play, the guy is pure value.

Magic's a simple game, 2 people take turns playing cards and in the end Divinevert wins 2-0...

If not Sneak Attack, how about Corpse Dance then? I mean, we already have Bottle Gnomes. No attempt at trolling, here. I'm just really bad at estimating a card's impact on a meta.

Chump and Murder with the cheapest flicker we have would cost . Sure, that's 2 mana less than Fatcaster, but that means you needed to play Snappy turn 2 into Murder turn 3 for such an early play. Later on in the game that value gets worse. If we had more busted plays to make with instants and sorcceries in Duels, I'd be more inclined to agree.

Well.. if we don't get something to go bigger faster, we're going to live in the vehicle meta forever. We already have removal to deal with vehicles cheaply.. but we don't have an option to go over the top of them with raw power. Something like Reanimate into a Grave Titan.

Isn't that why midrange is very so-so atm? We have midrange cards that do things, is it just how early they can do things, or how weak the things they do are? Because lets face it, nothing we have really compares to Grave Titan.

Well, if you want to bring midrange back, there are a few ways to do it:

1. Give us T2 acceleration (they are doing this, but I'd still prefer spells and signets to dorks)
2. Give us 4-drops that hurt aggro (we have some of this, in Kalistas, Gisela, Woodland Wanderer. I'd love for a 4-drop with life gain and a butt, like Loxodon Hierarch though.)
3. Give us a sweep effect that could hurt vehicles (Void comes to mind specifically)

The question is do we want midrange back? Doesn't that just devolve into a "good-stuff" matters meta like Standard often does? Rhino Abzan anyone?

Generic good stuff will almost never be better than a focused approach with a card pool this big and with rarity restrictions. I want a rock-paper-scissors meta, which Copter makes impossible unless we get viable midrange back.

Exhume would be awesome. It would also make reanimator a competetive deck.

Midrange that can race Copter? or Midrange that nerfs Copter - because we already have the latter. Just run Aethersphere Harvester, alongside Heart of Kiran, and a couple other solid midrange cards. Those are both solid cards that answer Copter decks fairly well. And of course, you can always run some direct copter hate - like fatal push, or Rec Sage, or frankly a lot of options.

The whole point was to add cards that wouldn't be overpowered, not these insane power level cards. So maybe Zombify

Yeah, but those cards would immediately revive some good old archtypes like Reanimator and Discard. Insane power, but only good in a narrow set of decks. It's not like every netdecking idiot with a Mardu vehicles deck would immediately include Living Death and become unstoppable. I don't think Wizards would mind some fresh air given the current Vehicle/Snek BS in Standard.

But I admit that Reanimate is the cheese, though. Exhume, then.

I guess the biggest problem with copter is that currently the best answer to copter is also a deck that runs copter. I have no idea how you avoid that... I mean what card could possibly stop that from being true? 3 mana card with reach and deathtouch/indestructible when blocking fliers? lol

An indestructable 1/1 that says Artifact creatures can't attack.
Or a destroy all artifacts Sorcery. 1 :r::r: cc should do the trick.

I'd settle for Faith's Fetters.

Other cards I love that could work to revive archetypes, without being ridiculously powerful:

Unburial Rites
Ebony Owl Netsuke
Glimpse the Unthinkable
Black Cat
Okiba-Gang Shinobi
Farseek
Ponder
Muddle the Mixture
Footbottom Feast
Momentary Blink

I'm looking for cards that might not automatically look like build-around cards, but are core blocks to reviving various deck types. Of those cards, literally only Glimpse the Unthinkable is a rare.

I dunno, isn't Ponder a bit...much? I'd love it, but it's common right? Pretty much replacing Telling Time outright, but I could also see it being a flip Jace situation where decks splash Blue just to get the sweet T1 setup for their next 3 draws. I get what you're going for with the rest in mill and discard decks.
