Everyone knows this game is all about turning little pieces of (digital) cardboard sideways and gloating about over inflated win streaks against Razorfoot Griffin.dec

Anyone who says otherwise must be a filthy casual.

Every game, at its core, is about having fun. Whether that is baseball, backgammon, Rock Band or Magic Duels, the point is always to have fun. In this particular case, there are different ways to have your fun. You can be a deckbuilder, who takes delight in coming up with interesting, unique or weird decks, and may enjoy showing other people the deck you've built. There's also the fun of the game, which can be in different ways: you might enjoy always making the best play and bettering yourself as a player (even taking the time to always determine why you lost the game and what play mistakes you made even if you won the game), you might enjoy trouncing the opposition with a quick aggressive deck, you might enjoy summoning the biggest and baddest creatures and spells you can find, or you might genuinely enjoy playing that weird deck you built because it tickles your fancy in some way. There are even more reasons than this to get into Magic: I have met people who collect particular card art such as Angels, or enjoy analyzing the tournament metagame and coming up with the right deck and sideboard to fight it (these last points I am making apply to paper Magic, not Duels).

It is also a game that will, at times, frustrate you (make you "salty"). I think this is because there is something personal about Magic, especially if it is a deck you made yourself. You are more invested in your wins and losses, well, some folks are. I know I am. I don't care as much if I just tossed a deck together or don't spend much time on it (especially if I borrow a deck from someone else in real life), but the decks I have been fine-tuning? I am well pleased when they perform as I hoped, and I get upset when they lose. Despite the swingy highs and lows the game can give me, I keep coming back to it.

As a side note, one piece of advice about paper Magic: don't sell your collection when you get older and have less time to play. You will regret it in 3 years when you start buying cards again. And if you absolutely must sell your collection at some discount bulk rate, sell it to me. ^_~

I thought at the end the question ended up being 'what 5 times 8' or something similar hence the retort 'no wonder the universe is screwed!'. And bit for bit, the "Bambleweeny57 Submeson Brain" gets my vote

It's actually 6 times 9 but the question was corrupted due to the early destruction of Earth. So no one knows what is the exact question.

What, really, can any game be about, but ourselves. Are we not magical? Is not life a series of challenges, or duels? What kind of message can we glean from these games except to more deeply understand our own role in the world. How do we face challenges? Are we strong, powerful, devious, clever?

Magic Duels is a conduit through which we can gain greater understanding of ourselves and our place in the universe.

Also, it's sometimes about throwing robot werewolves at dragons.

You sir go into my quotes book :D

I don't know. He may seem all right, but I'm sure that son of a bitch is sleeping with my wife.

Both of you need to check your math on that one 6x7=42, kinda sad when the music major has to check your math guys

Also the question was corrupted by the pressence of humans because we are actually aliens exiled to earth for being the most annoying caste on their planet. And not part of the original design for the computer Earth

So, you haven't read the book? That's part of the irony, the question is answered by Arthur Dent by pulling random Scrabble tiles out of a bag, and the question and answer don't match up.

Oh no I remember why this part always confused me, it's 6*9 is 54 but 54 is 42 when counted in base 13

My b, to be fair it's been like 10 years since I read that part

Or perhaps it was the hokey-pokey? I've heard that's what it's _all_ about.
