jealous you saw some mill, the 9/3 aggro seems like you play post eu hours. But otherwise quite similar to my findings. Don't be greedy, build a strong midrange deck with some early answers and some one sided sweepers and wonder what these people are hoping to prove :p
i've, moved on to 8 fog by now :D

I've been playing Temurge for about a month now pretty solid, with a bit of my Vampicles, some Mardu Vehicles, and Grixis Thopters thrown in for something faster.

Played six games with tutelage to make extra sure I got the deck archetypes right and saw the whole deck.*

1 vs rakdos vamps
1 vs azorius spirits
1 vs grixis dynavolt
1 vs selesnya aggro
1 vs bant flicker
1 vs dimir dynavolt

(This is on steam)

*: I had to play 25 lands, 15 U/W spells and 15 R/B spells to do my 3 quests and I naively thought I'd get it done in 3 games. I hate those quests.

I've updated the OP with your stats and mine. Keep up the good work, your contributing to a greater cause. lol

The metagame based on this so far seems rather accurate. An exorbitant amount of based human-vehicle decks followed by some vampire-vehicles which can match it in speed. We can see this reflected in our last tournaments as the finalist of both tournaments plays & . The only real control deck that seems to show up is Sphinx's Tutelage and we can see why considering the metagame is so hyper fast. Wheeling effects in the form of Fateful Showdown and the new Cathartic Reunion with cheap creature kill is the way to go! Lastly, or blink with value creatures seems like the way to go when tempo'ing out your opponents aggro plays and getting value. Planeswalker centric decks do not get much fun in the sun probably because of aggro right now so Jeskai and Esper aren't great decks currently unless you can surely deal with Tutelage & Vehicles! Ramp unfortunately while greatly loved rolls over flat to both aggro and tutelage, unless dealing with these cards is your priority then don't ramp into Ulamog!

Also, instead of tallys I went with numbers for ease of viewing.

Also, nothing wrong with Alms of the Vein, a Lightning Helix to the face is always good especially when it cost 1 mana less!

Darthmask and I had a go at this before, but it all went to sleep. viewtopic.php?f=38&t=16403
Zerris concluded:
Zerris wrote:
Most of that data is mine (everything from Midrange, about 80 games). From playing the games, the relevant distinctions feel like:

Red-Based Aggro: By far the most common strategy, although nobody can agree on what the right build is. Everybody agrees on Smuggler's Copter, though.

Blue-Based Tempo: Flash threats and bounce/tap spells, featuring Unsubstantiate as an all-star. This showed up a moderate amount.

Instant Speed Control: Nowhere near as common as either of the two above strategies, but still not unexpected. All the builds seemed very light on creatures and heavy on single-target removal spells.

Planeswalkers: Kind of midrange, kind of control - saw a few versions, but nothing spectacular. FYI, this is where I'd classify the build I was running.

Black Midrange designed to beat Red Aggro: These came in two flavors. On one side, Black Green Delirium decks, almost all running 2x Languish and 4x Grapple with the Past. On the other, Black Red Madness decks, all running 4x Fiery Temper. Not sure which is the better choice overall, but they seemed to be occupying the same meta spot.

and finally...

Artifact Combo... Sorta: Most of the remaining decks were trying to do something weird with artifacts - Reanimate, Gearseeker, Metalwork, or Marionette. At least against my deck, these all looked horrible. None of them ever managed to interact or go off in any meaningful way. or at least, I assume that's what the guy who played 6 different 0/X artifact walls was up to. Maybe I give people too much credit?

This was back in November.

Seems like his classifications were way too vague. Instant speed control? For control, no one is really in the business of durdling with their planeswalker and depending on sweepers anymore, Tutelage seems to be the most popular currently.

Hopefully by the end of this week the chart on the OP will be more detailed and then we can all come up with some very stock decklist like how they've got it on MTG Goldfish.

Played a couple games yesterday morning running a Naya token spam/delirium deck I'm messing with on xb1.

Won vs a rank 6 player running a Boros ally deck.
Lost vs a rank 40 player running an Izzet thopters deck (Land flood after the board stalled).

I have only seen one classic esper control on steam recently, but I have played a non-negligible amount of games with the grixis/white splash deck I posted before I left.
One does not rely on sweepers, in fact, despite running those 4 colours, the only sweeper effect in the pile is Radiant Flames. Efficient early spot removal, some 3cmc easy to cast counters, Jace, Glimmer of Genius, a varied suite of good threats spread all over the curve (starting at 2 cmc), and 26 lands is still perfectly viable in this 'hyper aggressive' environment.

There's alot of perception bias going on I think. The fact that many people choose to play aggro does not mean that aggro is all that amazing. People just tend to remember the copter + gideon draws and the games where they draw nothing but gas and no more than 5 land in 20 cards, but forget the times when the aggro decks just fall flat post t5. Don't get me wrong, I do think aggro is quite good, but most lists I see are a bit shaky.

I decided to play a slightly modified version of socur's showdown deck (- 1 midnight oil, -1 Avacyn's Judgment, +2 Insolent Neonate) and I got in 2 games.

RG energy aggro (win - on the play, good curve + removal, very 1 sided)

Jeskai spells/tower control (win - what a grind! This is the kind of matchup where this deck shines. Tons of removal, but I just kept recurring stuff. Playing fevered visions against this deck probably wasn't a good move. He had to waste his removal and tower energy just to stay alive and I eventually finished him with burn)

I'm trying to remember what all I played against last night, but all I can think of is my humiliating loss to a 100-card tower. It was something like UR+Eldrazi and he killed me with Big Chandra activations and then a top deck Reality Smasher+Looming Spires. Ugh.

That fat-stack walk of shame is the worst, unless they are running Battle of Wits. If you don't lose due to getting too few or too many lands then you start wondering what is wrong with your deck!

Did another update to the OP tonight. My addition was linking some sample decklist next to the more prominent decks. It isn't the stock version of those archetypes but its something to go off of at least.

Also think about making a separate fringe list with decks that rarely show up. Also thinking about scraping the Xbox data all together seeing that 30% of the time you'd actually play against rank 25+ players.

Hows it coming together for the 3rd day so far? Looking good?

I know its probably a sh@tload of work, but the only improvement I can see is if the table was in order of most to least frequent.

My games today:
Rakdos Vamps (Win - Playing Orzov Mid-Range, Kept a risky hand with 5 lands + Gisela and Bruna and... managed to live long enough to drop T7 Brisela)
Dimir Zombies (Loss - I got a little mana screwed for a 2nd black mana and probably misplayed. Too Many zombies to hang on)

Grixis Control (Win - Playing Boros Vehicles, Start your engines took the win)
Boros Vehicles (Win - Was in a tight spot, but skysouverign and Pia making a flipped Avacyn unable to block allowed me to snatch the win)
Izzet Burn (Win - Start your engines did it again, because 2x fevered visions left me at 5 life)

On Steam (lvl 40) last night:

Temur Energy (with Pummeler)
Esper Control
RB Artifact Aggro
Grixis Madness/Reanimator
5 Color Walkers? (Pretty janky, but I think that's where he was going)
