See? That pun is worse than the last twelve posts of Chiang put together. He's not that bad at all. Comparing him to dragon is crazy. I think in peacetime you guys are losing perspective.

Having lived and successfully navigated the Dragon era, I can tell you for a fact he is nothing like Dragon.

Barns, perspective is relative...but I agree with you at this point.

It really depends on the deck. If you have the mana you need, it is a good idea to hold back land. Even if you do not have a Tireless Tracker or a card Like Flip Jace in your deck, it still can help protect you against discard (Mainly Lil, but can be nice to have them waste a Thought Knot). That is not even counting the psychological game, which can be very effective.

If you're playing Madness Vampires or whatnot, you're good after your 5th land. Any more and you're over-extending. Correct play is to hold it back.

Hey chiang. I play Nahiri, the Harbinger Should I use her + ability before or after slamming down my lands? I just don't know what to do! )-=

To add to this, it isn't really something you can say one way or the other unless you know the specific deck and specific scenario being discussed.

Sometimes playing those extra lands is worth it. Mana sink cards exist (like Avacyn's Judgment), and sometimes it is just nice being able to play a 4 drop and a 2 drop on the same turn or something. Being able to pay the rhystic effect on Spell Shrivel when you play your 3-4 drop? Avoiding damage from Fevered Visions? Activating Hellbent for Bloodhall Priest?

On the reverse, there are just as many reasons why holding onto those lands could be correct. Bluffing combat tricks/removal, having fodder to dodge opponents discard effects, having fodder for your own discard/looting effects, and on and on.

Lets be honest though, the purpose of this thread wasn't to actually discuss this, but to get rise out of everyone. I give it a C-

Draqon, some eastern european troll. Banned from this site. Comparing Chiang to him is like comparing Trump to Hitler. Chiang is no Draqon.
