For a very casual-heavy tournament...I don't think the pace is slow at all. I've been getting a match against the king roughly every 2 weeks or so consistently. Considering that there hasn't been less than 10 guys on the list since the beginning of this season, I'd say thats pretty good.

Glacial pace? Kings (on Xbox at least) are playing 3-4 matches per week. How many would you prefer? I mean, jeez, some of us have social lives (and win alot at Magic).

Nah, I'm already wary of choosing between #1 and #2 on the list, just because I don't want people getting jumped just because they don't know they are up right away.

Like, how would you have liked it if you were #1 on the list and then I played the #2 guy three straight times? Because that sounds hilarious to me and now, apparently, it's possible.

Yeah I don't think Gem should put people back on the list unless they ask.

Secondly, i think that only the person in the number 1 spot or anyone in the waiting area can challenge the king. I hate the idea as well of the number 2 spot being able to challenge the king without allowing sufficient time for the number one guy to do it. Vert's example is perfect.
