HOLY SH*T. This series had started of with a slow burn but now we're at full throttle and I freakin' love it. Can't wait to watch it again in HD.

My wife requested Goonies so we watched that last night. Good thing about the HBO Now app on PlayStation.
I can watch GOT whenever!

Yah... Data was his name. It's rather uncomfortable watching his father pull out that camera that is on the accordion-like springs around his waist. "Hey, how many stereotypes to you think we can fit in guys?"

GOT most definitely rocked this week! This is a show that if they didn't carry on for so long that nothing made sense and everyone was LOST I could watch for years to come. I started subscribing to HBO Now specifically for it as I was getting tired of my IP sending me letters over my downloading .torrents of it. All in all, I will be keeping HBO. They really stepped up the game since the last time I was a subscriber through Dish and all I would watch on it was Sopranos. Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Week Tonight, etc... They have some quality stuff.

On another subject, what's everyone's opinion on Disney breaking from Netflix in 2019 and starting their own streaming service. Personally I still have quite an affinity for Disney even though my kids are getting closer to teenage and we watch way less Disney than when they were young.
I don't think they have the catalog to pull it off to be quite honest unless they plan to start coming up with more original, groundbreaking programming (ie: GOT, House of Cards, etc...) and/or have a small monthly fee for the service.

I got it for $309 with a deal at Geekbuying.

That seems to be the middle of the road price. There are cheaper and more expensive versions. I've been checking them out to possibly get the kids for Christmas... if they will clean their Goddamn rooms!

Edit: Goddamn made it through the filter. Maybe it's my unique way (but right if you're into conjunctions) of spelling it.

While I won't pay for yet another subscription service (these companies are shooting themselves in the foot setting up there own services: people will only pay so much for content. That's the beauty of Netflix, it was a one stop shop for a bunch of stuff) Disney own a lot. Like more than you know. ESPN and ABC among other big TV staples plus Pixar, Lucas Film and Marvel etc. They definitely have enough to launch a viable platform. The fact they'll be competing against established services like Netflix and Amazon and people won't want to pay yet another fee to watch content will hurt them though. I already pirate a bunch of stuff due to the **** nature of digital distribution rights; this is just going to add to fuel to the fire and more people will take similar action because they simply wont spend the stupid amount of money it will take to access everything they want to watch.

I currently pay for Xbox live, Netflix, HBO, and the dsl to use them. It's all I am going to pay. If the services pricing rises a reasonable bump I can afford that but I won't be adding any other subs. I have been spoiled by the lack of commercials on those services.

I also buy games and make some play some microtrans games, so that where I like to spend the rest of my discretionary bucks.

*wakes up, has coffee, browses reddit, sees next Game of Thrones episode has leaked, sh*ts pants with excitement*

HBO having zero luck, it wasn't even hackers: just their own incompetent employees. Episode is freaking amazing and the leak is 1080p HD for those willing to go find it.

i'm going to wait. Last Sunday for the first time ever in the history of the show, I got to watch an episode live on a Sunday night. I usually look at them as Youtube clips out of order (and it's awful watching the show this way cuz each clips tells you what happens in it in the title).

So i still have access to HBO the next two weeks so there's no way I'm going to watch it ahead of time. Mormont reunion was really sweet and fun to watch live. Jon having a moment with Drogon was cool too.

anyway, it's so different getting to watch it live on a Sunday. Can't wait for next week. Loved last week's episode. And then an hour later, i can watch Last Week Tonight live too which is a blast. I'm one or two episodes away from finishing LWT's 4th season, and then I'm going to start to look into the movies and shows HBO has on demand. I really prefer HBO to Netflix I think. I had Netflix for a month once and got bored after a few weeks.

I have both Barn. Netflix is loaded with so many kick ass documentaries and of course Trailer Park Boys.
I would have a real rough time giving it up.

thanks Devil, so I should look through the documentaries then? I haven't breezed through that list yet. I've only looked at movies and series.

i'm on vacation for another 1.5 weeks and I have access to HBO which I never do. I'm all caught up on Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight which are probably my favorite shows on HBO. I'm thinking about what to watch next, movies or start a new TV show.

I gave it a good think over and I honestly think that Game of Thrones isn't the best TV series of all time, I think it may be The Sopranos. I don't know of any other show with such fleshed out characters as that one. Some famous TV host (I THINK it was that scottish guy, but I can't remember) said that he purposely avoided ever interviewing any actor that had ever been on the Sopranos (major characters only) cuz he didn't want to ruin it for himself.

So that being said, I think I'm going to make an attempt to rewatch The Sopranos while I'm here. It's probably 100 hours of television and I doubt I'll pull it off, but I've never actually seen all the episodes and I think it's a good idea to watch the whole thing at some point. So I watched 3 episodes of Season 1 and enjoyed them, ducks and all. I think I'll go through this over the next year and when I'm done, I'll probably finally get around to watching The Wire. Which I hear is incredible.

I think Sopranos might be my favorite, followed by Seinfeld and Game of Thrones. I have a soft spot for Next Generation but I know there's a lot of crap in that one sometimes too.

Yeah, I really need to see The Wire at some point.

oh yeah, i briefly considered Deadwood yesterday too. which I ALSO hear is better than Game of Thrones and stuff.

Are you sure about The Shield? I've seen adverts for it, and it looks pretty standard fare (like NYPD Blue stuff).

anyway, watching TV seasons during vacations is a new thing for me and is more fun than just tearing through movies. I'm caught up on movies anyway.

it'll take me at least a year I'm guessing to get through Sopranos but I think it'll be a journey worth taking

Yah I've heard real good things about The Wire. That will be my next binge. While you're at it Barn, I recommend Westworld. I never read the books or saw the (I believe a movie exists) the movie. Interesting concept and great acting. My wife got into what I think is called The Left Behinds or something along that line. I tried really hard but just couldn't. You may like it though.
Yes also that Netflix has a bunch of really good documentary content from the familiar to like a documentary series on Maths. It also has Documentary Now, a brilliant spoof series from Fred Amiston and Bill Hader and With Bob and David which is an awesome pick up (in a way) from Mr. Show.
God forbid if you had never seen Mr. Show, they are all on HBO for you to check out.

You must watch Mr. Show!
Groundbreaking comedy. Brought Bob Odenkirk and David Cross into the spotlight.

Just finished The Defenders. It was decent enough. I'd rank the Marvel Netflix shows as:

Daredevil Season One
Jessica Jones
Daredevil Season Two
The Defenders
Luke Cage
Iron Fist

In other Marvel news they announced that David Tennant is returning as Killgrave for JJ season two. I'm not sure how I feel about this. He was awesome (better than any of the movie villains for sure) but I like how the arc ended and I'd like to explore new territory.
