I wasn't sure exactly what happened from his Twitter rants (he even admitted he was drunk so wtf) and the Reddit feed. I guess he made it to top 8? He was last to make it? And instead the 9th player advanced? Due to a disconnect? Which I am unsure of was his or MTGO's fault. And the make up tourny also happens to be on the same weekend as a GP which he has plans to attend?

He seemed really pissed about a game.

The gist is, he was 7-0 and a lock for top 8 with 2 rounds to go. MTGO repeatedly crashed on his end and he was DROPPED from the event. Now, it looks like he still made top 8 after the tourney (eventually) continued I think...BUT:

Instead of just restarting the tourney from where the crash happened, due to the program not being able to "save" the results at that current time, Wizards has stated that the tournament will "begin anew" next Saturday from scratch, with all players that were x-2 at the time playing in it. Thing is, Kibler is already playing in the Legacy GP that Saturday and obviously will be choosing that over the re-do MOCS.

He's mostly furious over his time being wasted and MTGO being jacked up. I'm sure he's upset about not getting to go all the way in the tourney, but he is a Hall of Famer so him actually winning it isn't as big a deal as a random MTGO grinder winning it.

I guess this nonsense has been going on for some time with people getting dropped/whole tourneys getting scrapped...but I believe this is the first time it has affected someone as prominent as Kibler (Hall of Famer, popular player/game designer, et al).

Sigh. Wizards and Hasbro seriously seem to not give a ........ about the digital side of their product. It's sad really. Magic is pretty much my favorite gaming past time (and I play a LOT of games) and to see such a wonderful thing treated with such neglect/borderline disdain from the people in charge is just.......whatever man. I'd say tragic but I don't want to get all emotional.

I spent 80 dollars on mtgo when physical cards were getting too expensive........... the service is just not good enough for me to consider spending anything else on it. Not even my time. I can't afford to buy physical cards anymore due to now being a college student..........

If we get more players into DoTP, perhaps WoTC will realize it's potential, devote more time and effort to it, and turn IT into a replacement for MTGO. They could keep releasing content for $$$ and we'll gladly pay. We can be nickle and dimed, but cannot be bulked(buying a bunch in MTGO)

Dude, do you realize how much time they sink into MTGO? Like literally? And the thing is still a mess. It is so much of a mess that I , someone who has tried repeatedly to switch to it, have been unable to spend large amounts of money on the thing, even though I wanted to. Because it was just that bad of a UI.

WOTC has no idea how to do online anything. The only thing they can do is paper magic, and even then........ sometimes they screw that up too. Believe it or not, DOTP is probably the best job they have done on an online thing in a very long time.

dh50 is a friend and occasional partner of mine. He's very good at 2hg.

SS does stand a great chance at defeating DnB, but it has to be played right and built right before the match even happens. Still, it comes down to draw and no deck owns another.
